Rockinger hitch operation?

I have picked up a used Rockinger 243 tow hitch. It has a lever on the right side and a pull knob on the left. The hitch appears to be locked open. I assumed that the knob should be pulled out and held, whilst the lever is lowered to close the hitch pin, but it does not move. Before i force it, does anyone have one of these type of hitches, and can confirm its operation please?

Push the pin up from inside jaws.

 

It will then come down, its designed to be released by the draw bar eye as it goes under the pin.

 

Use a bar or spanner to lever it up.

i remember calling alex price telling him my hitch wasnt working that i just bought off him, then he explained it is held open and only closes when hitched, hence the wider part of the ring onhtte hitch, jam it on ht eground and stick a crowbar in to lever it off
