i wanted to get a sample of timber from a company called eppinga https://eppinga.nl/ and thought i'd ask if anyone was traveling between there and J7 of the M4 before i went with a courier.

it's only a beam of timber that can be cut up for transport if needs be.

here is their location,

https://wego.here.com/directions/mix//Eppinga-Hout-Bouwmaterialen,-Marconilaan-5,-Drachten:e-eyJuYW1lIjoiRXBwaW5nYSBIb3V0ICYgQm91d21hdGVyaWFsZW4iLCJhZGRyZXNzIjoiTWFyY29uaWxhYW4gNSwgRHJhY2h0ZW4iLCJsYXRpdHVkZSI6NTMuMTExNDEsImxvbmdpdHVkZSI6Ni4xNDQ0MywicHJvdmlkZXJOYW1lIjoiZmFjZWJvb2siLCJwcm92aWRlcklkIjozMzA2NjU5NzAzODg0MzB9?map=53.10909,6.18745,11,normal&fb_locale=en_GB

if no one is doing this in the next couple of months then i'll use a courier but just thought i'd ask here first.

any help appreciated.

Steve

very good of you sir...

i can do as many plates as you like and i don't see why i can't get it sent to a dutch address.

i should say that it could be rather heavy.

initially i was interested in this beam at 3500mm as i can make a sample of what i intend to make from it.

https://eppinga.nl/product/manbarklak-ruw-100-fsc-150x150mm/

if this is too heavy then i'll happily have one of these instead at 2000mm.

https://eppinga.nl/product/manbarklak-ruw-100-fsc-50x200mm/

i'm currently waiting for them to get back to me to tell me if the timber is freshly cut or if it's dry.

they do not give any indication on their pages if either is the case but i suspect that the plank will be kiln dried and the beam air dried as this is usually the case.

i will wait to hear back from them and if it's not too tricky with the logistics then i'll be in touch.

thanks again...

Weight should be fine, if it's about the weight of water it'd be about 80kgs which would be fine. Even if it was as heavy as lignum vitae it would still only be about 100kgs, which would also be fine.

Length: I can't take much longer than 2m, because I'm not taking my truck over, just the tiny Deasel Wiesel which won't take long lengths and there's no way I'm travelling with the boot open.

So if you can get it to my parents' house in Emmen, I can take it back when I come back in early May.

Water content isn't likely to make it heavier than water though is it....?:sneaky2:

Spoke to my mate this morn, he'll be driving past Drachten on his way to meet me and would be happy to collect y'r kindling.:thumbup1: Just get those bloody Frisians to chop it in half and we're all good!

Right Boyo, if you want this doing then some action is needed!

I'm in the Netherlands now, and aforementioned mate will need a bit of notice, you've three days left...

i thank you for offering to help but i've not been able to get a response from the company so i'll have to forget it.

thanks for offering in the first place and sorry to mess you about.

please pass my thanks to your mate for saying he can help also.

it's a pain in the arse when companies don't return emails as i really would have liked some of that stuff.

Send me a pm stating exactly what it is you're after, and what you want to know from them and I'll give them a call on monday morning.

My Dutch is generally better than my English.:001_smile:
