I'd go with the double cab transit I took the rear seats out fitted a plywood bulkhead and put a full width shelf amazed how much gear I can get in I also had the windows tinted with the darkest film you cant see in.Total cost excluding my time to convert around a hundred quid.The truck is a bit long but you get used to it and there are plenty about to choose from.

I can see that setup being ideal for our needs. Did you do the conversion yourself.

 

Yes, the truck also has a fold out tail lift that doubles up as security for the chipper, I just lower tail lift on to the neck of the chipper and isolate it, so when your in a back garden you've got peace of mind

 

Iv run a double cab before but don't think I would again as when there loaded all the waight is on the back axle at lest with a single cab the front axle takes some of the waight

 

Every one running 3.5 tonners are over waight but the crew cabs suffer more
