Cotinus quick dieback

Hi,

Could anyone make any suggestions as to what may have caused this to dieback fairly suddenly?

I had a look for rhizomorphs but was unable to see any only mycelium. Is it possible that it could still be Armillaria?

There is also a lot of stem cracks on the side of the shrub with dieback. I'm assuming this is stress related, lack of water uptake.
