A days milling in Cannington

We could do with a mill (bandsaw) in for a day at Cannington. Would anyone be interested or know of anyone who would?

 

We have a chainsaw mill and no time, would rather pay a mobile bandsaw for a days work and have it done.

Saw these guys at the Scythe Fair. Their website says they travel to the whole of Somerset Land Logic

 

I heard that the beautiful Black Poplar by the river in Cannington is going to be removed. Its a shame to lose such a giant but sounds like its getting a bit dangerous to leave it.

I had many a crafty fag under that tree as a child while at school up the road.

Rupert at land logic has a mobile wood mizer. Alternatively I have a Lucas Mill with 1.5m cut slabber attachment

Ollie I have to cut a load of 50mmx30mm battens out of some Oak and some 100x 100m posts out of some cedar, your Lucas mill would be good for that wouldn't it?

We are taking the old black Pop down next month, the Parish council are losing sleep over it ever since they had a Picus done a while ago. Its had all kinds of fungi on it over the last few years.

We are taking down to to approx 2.5m just big enough to still qualify as a tree on the tree register.

It'll be a nice 2.5m lump of burr left. Might be worth sticking the mill through the poplar too. Theres so much burr, theres bound to be some nice bits... if any of it's sound enough. I'm sure someone local would like a nice coffee table to remember it by!
