I have recently had repairs carried out on my oil fired rayburn it is the 2 burner model in October last year the solenoid failed on the heating side we were charged £168 which included vat two visits and the part which we happily paid. Last month the cooker side failed the engineer came out his words to my wife were its the same problem as last time in hind sight we should have swapped both solenoids.

We have just received a bill for £360 I have queried the invoice the secretary rang me back after talking to the boss he couldn't take the time to call me she said that they changed both solenoids and the solenoid bases.

The engineer left the faulty part for us to dispose of only one item which to me looked like the solenoid top only.

I like the engineer nice chap who knows what he is doing but I feel his boss is ripping me off if I refuse to pay the full amount I will have probably closed the door on this firm but I hate being ripped off .
