Morning all, someone in the UK has asked me about a magnolia growing right next to their house wall. It's a late 17th century, stone rubble building located in the Melksham area. The tree is approx 3.5m tall with a trunk circumference of 50cm. They want to remove the tree completely. The location is sighted as an area of subsidence risk - this would be my main concern, but I am not familiar with root swell on magnolias + these old houses have shallow, direct load foundations (effectively a trench filled with stone). I know it's not a big tree, but any advise would be welcome. Please see photos for reference. IMG_1016.HEIC IMG_1017.HEIC IMG_1018.HEIC

My Magnolia tree is sick! On multiple limbs the bark is off in strips. Some strips have cracks on them and one has these strange pods. All advice is very welcome. I would hate to lose this tree!

Hi all, I have had an email today from a demo firm offering a mature magnolia tree for sale on an old school site. I dont know anything about transplanting so I thought I would pass it onto you guys. I would like to learn a bit about this as I have never looked into transplanting large trees. I am currently a student and any bits of info about anything is always great to hear. There are 2 more pics but I cannot add them as it will only allow me to add 4 at a time. Is transplanting a good thing to do? but I suppose it will be felled if no buyers come forward. We all love trees!!!! Like I said, I know nothing about this and any info would be great. If anyone would like the contact details for this demo firm, please pm me. THE TREE IS LOCATED AT THE OLD FRODSHAM HIGH SCHOOL SITE, FRODSHAM CHESHIRE, WA6 6SP Thanks guys, Lee
