I have a small tree (about 4 metres high) in my back garden. It's an ever green tree that has small white flowers that come out in autumn and stay out for winter. The leaves are small and waxy. I have noticed a section of the leaves have started to turn brown (as seen in the picture), so I am trying to find out what tree it is to try and provide help to it if needed. I had closer look today and the underside of every leave is absolutely covered with what looks like tiny black insects or dots. Any ideas what these are and if they might be causing the tree to die off?? What can I do? Thanks in advance.

Hello, I’m wondering what this striking tree is in Parc Leopold, Brussels. The fruit look like green apples on the branches, but on the ground they are rotting to reveal big stones like peaches and they smell slightly lemony. It’s shed nearly all its leaves now.

Hi I was given a few logs for spoon carving by my local tree surgeon, they are particularly good so wanted to know what species of tree the log comes from! These pics below show a couple of logs that were cut a month or so ago and have been outside since.. Any help would be greatly appreciated. 93-E3-D36-D-15-F4-4-D6-F-A6-AA-4-D952-A43-DD4-F IBB.CO Image 93-E3-D36-D-15-F4-4-D6-F-A6-AA-4-D952-A43-DD4-F hosted in ImgBB (ignore the small log at the bottom right in the grass) IMG-3676 IBB.CO Image IMG-3676 hosted in ImgBB Thanks Josh

Hey arbtalk, I came across this bracket last autumn, finally got around to uploading the images and asking for help! The ash tree is in Dorset, UK, it's mature and is sat by/in a stream. No other fruiting bodies found on or near the tree... doesn't share the same characteristics as the typical Meripulous or Perenniporia…. can anyone shed any light? The client has asked for its I.D as he would like to know if he can eat it when it fruits next... ?? Hopefully the link tot he image will work. Cheers Tree Services Trowbridge

Hi everyone and firstly a hello to you all; just joined arbtalk having read a few threads from “the outside” and I am looking forward to being part of the community. I am hoping someone here might be able to help me- I want to repair my dad’s old Husqvarna 50 (barrel and piston are damaged due to running without enough / with no 2-stroke mixed...). he’s owned it from new but was going to throw away. Problem is I can’t tell if it’s a “special” (45mm I believe) or a regular 44mm 50. If anyone can give me a steer I’d be very grateful and it can help me get the correct new cylinder etc. (also- I notice that most aftermarket cyclinders have a decompression valve but the original does not, can’t see a problem with that unless anyone knows better?) thanks, merlin Ps was taken apart by a local dealer to assess the damage

I was just wondering if anyone had bought/used or had any experience with the new DMM iD smart tags for Loler. Does it work reliably? When you retro-fit a tag to any item does it actually stay on the item? It's probably fine if you're a fair-weather climber and look after your gear but what about climbing through wet/dense/slimy/ivy-covered trees and shoving it back in your bag to rot like most tree surgeons. I can imagine the zip-tie tag to a harness and other textile products staying attached but the sticky dot they provide for the caribeeners seems unlikely....and....if it's still there (on a rigging pulley) after a year will it still work??? Please any info would be appreciated
