Hi all, I am due to leave the forces in a year and intend to qualify as a tree surgeon. I was a landscaper before I joined (15 long years ago), always keep myself in good shape, enjoy the outdoors, honking weather and all that guff... Basically, I intend to take my newly learned trade abroad, possibly France or Canada and have a few questions before I take the leap: Can you earn the money abroad? With the French and Canadians alike using wood as fuel more than here, surely everyone has a chainsaw in their shed? Qualifications wise, before I commit all my resettlement grant to say kingswood for example, are the courses here recognised abroad? While I'm looking at courses, can anyone reccomend the basics I need to be legally employable to gain experience, including climbing. I am after being a monkey with a saw to begin with, earning some money whist looking at education in conservation, forestry in the long run. Any help would be greatly appreciated or advice from anyone who has gone down the same route as I intend to do, thanks! Dan.

Hi all, I have recently moved to the Finisterre area of Brittanny, France, and I am looking for any kind of experience/ advice available. Having been here for a few weeks already and it not being in my nature to sit still for too long, i have begun to get itchy feet and i am looking to get back into some kind of useful work, I have some basic level french (having a french partner, and a couple of years of leisure time studying) but i feel the only way to get a real education is to be out there talking the language. If anyone knows of anyone companies locally who be willing to take on an intern of sorts, willing to work for little to no pay, i would appreciate the help. CV available on request, key points included; 6+ Years Experience in a fencing company 2+ Years NPTC Qualified (30&31) (maintenance, cross cutting and felling) Thanks all!

Hi everyone, I'm currently self employed in north yorkshire but after breaking up with my girlfriend I would like to do some travelling and work while I'm away. I'm currently looking for jobs where I can do some skiing (Europe, cheaper flights!) but after that I'll be looking further a field... Anywhere! I surf too so I like the idea of NZ... If anyone has any advice/links/threads which might help me I'd love to hear about it. Was offered a job doing maintenance in a ski resort but i'd prefer to be in the trees! 25 years old. 18 months climbing. CS30,31,38,39..and I can just about help a conversation in French! Many thanks! Ali
