Dernford Nook is a campsite for scouts, guides and other youth groups. Much of the cooking is done on open fires so they will burn the logs - any and all. As traffic on site has increased, the paths and the two short roadways need improving stability wise and woodchip would be perfect for this.
We are immediately south of Stapleford, not far from the A505, near Dernford Reservoir down the long farm road and behind Three Willows which used to be called Van Stomp, just before the level crossing, on the left.
Any logs over 1inch are great - we will stack and ultimately burn to cook on. Much smaller are not so great for to us.
Any woodchip we'll use for pathway and roadway stabilising on our 10 acre site. Exceptions are hazards that might cause harm to young people or wildlife on the site like metal or plastics in the woodchip or chemicals like weedkiller or preservatives in or on the logs or woodchip etc or poisonous woods like yew.
Natural hazards (thorns etc) are fine.
We have a pair of grassy carparks at the end of our Green Lane and the far one would be perfect for dumping the logs and/or woodchip in. We will spread/move whatever we get from there.
