I'm not expecting everyone to be sunshine and rainbows. I'm not green to the fact it's hard work, but what I won't stand for is the sexist caveman mentally that seem to creep in to every post. I can take hard truths with the best of them, but telling me it's 'a mans game' and 'women don't cut it' is just ridiculous. There are people that are shit in both genders but tarring only one with that brush is archaic. I'm willing the work my butt off, learn and prove my worth just like any newbie on site should. I have spoken to some great people on here and massively appreciate their input, but sadly like I said before the 'tear people down brigade' shout the loudest.

So far everyone I've met in the industry in real life has been nothing but helpful, patient and willing the take the time to show and teach me stuff. A ls well as give me a balance view of the profession. Unfortunately 99% of social media hasn't been so kind but negative people always seem to shout the loudest. I'm developing a thick skin and it's paying off.

Oh I can see that, but for the moment I'm just happy to be out and learning. I have plans to get off the ground or in to machinery so it's all good progression

🤦🏻♀️ no they weren't. My first post had to be deleted by admin as it was so bad. The 2nd post only went better as I started it by telling people to behave.

Small update on my career change. I never know if anyone cares but here I am... So if you remember i popped a post up weeks ago asking for advice on getting in to the industry, the comment section turned in to a total sh#t show of 'Don't do it' 'Its not for women' 'you're to weak' 'Don't need women on site' Etc etc But anyway, didnt put me off. I've booked on for my cs30 in 2 weeks' time (sooner that orginally planned) and after sending out a bunch of emails looking for work experience, a guy has given me a chance, and I had my first day yesterday. He was impressed with my work ethic and hes recommended me to another guy who's offered me 2 further days work. So actually all is going great, the guy I worked with on the first day was excellent. Was happy to stop often and teach me as we were going and in return I worked my socks off. We (he) felled a tree and I cleared the ground, shifted tools, ran the chipper and did general ground stuff. It was a great day and I learnt alot and at no point did I feel my sex was a barrier.

I have full PPE and my husqvarna 550xp and a selection of garden/landscape tools. I've bought my course forward to a couple weeks time so I am going to focus on that then continue the search after Xmas.

Bristol, but can drive and will travel a reasonable distance

I should have said. I've emailed several big, small and one man band companies and asked in a few arb/forstry fb groups. I've been very upfront with my experience level and future plans. Sidenote....should I be looking to get my own insurance etc now?
