  1. You've misunderstood. I am an enjoyer of private property. I don't like rent-induced poverty or homelessness. My take is that the current system has long failed and most landlords are necessarily arseholes for exploiting that system. Same with drugs and drug dealers. Agrarian Justice is where I'm at if you care: we should have our private property but not at the expense of others fundamental wellbeing or "natural" rights. Agrarian Justice - Wikipedia EN.WIKIPEDIA.ORG Housing people in tears who are about to be homeless - good Reducing rents on tenants who are in dire straits - good Paying your taxes - good Actually caring - good Point is, none of these things should be remarkable. These should all be basic human decency taken for granted. The whole system must be utterly broken if we have landlords saying they actually care about people as if it were a novel concept.
  2. And I bet you've made a ton of money out of it. So that's a world's smallest violin situation. Whinging about the hard life of a UK landlord while the poors are giving food banks a workout. You could always sell up and be completely free of serf related issues. I'm sorry for how it might come across, it's not personal.
  3. Okey dokey, well, as long as you're alright I guess it's just supply and demand, nothing to worry about. Profiteering off the most basic of human needs isn't just OK but should be encouraged as entrepreneurship in pursuit of the infinite growth our economy demands. What could possibly go wrong. Honestly I hope it doesn't spread to your areas and the rest of the country. But really Cornwall's the canary down the coal mine and (making some educated guesses about this forum's posters) you're lucky to be relatively old and well-off.
  4. I've had the wood burner going in the evenings for over a month now. Maybe I'm becoming less tolerant to UK weather as I age, but this has seemed like a particularly underwhelming summer.
  5. Padstow. Not all arseholes but around 99% probably, is that fair? They extract more from society than they contribute, profiteering from the most basic of human needs. Supply and demand is OK and there's nothing theoretically evil about renting property, or selling cocaine for example, but in practice these people do tend to be arseholes. Hang around some landlord circles and see how they talk about things. You can't throw a stone in Cornwall without hitting an arsehole renting three properties to full time working couples who can't get a mortgage, yet still whinges about how they don't make enough return on their "portfolio". Cancer.
  6. You'll be expected to spend out on proper chainsaw boots. They protect more than just the toe cap area and are rated in different classes depending on chain speed, like trousers. Standard steel toe caps will have the same rating as a pair of flip flops.
  7. I'm trying to blow leaves, not bust ghosts mate
  8. Well yeah. Landlords in the UK are not struggling for cash. Obviously they're relatively good employers for that reason alone. This thread was originally about arseholes though. For the sake of accuracy, regardless of how they treat hired arborists, landlords are some of the biggest arseholes known to mankind.

    How much?!!

Could be worse? I pay nothing because I'm broke. Two appointments per year. Quality has gone down noticeably over 5, 10, 15 years. If I lost this NHS dentist I'd be doing home dentistry because there's zero NHS dentist availability in Cornwall. The high prices are probably linked to how many people miss appointments (my dentist is on the rocks because of this) and because so many people who are well-off enough to go private choose not to. Obviously nobody should have to go private, but something is obviously broken if we have rich people getting NHS care while any number of poor people can't even get a dentist or doctor appointment, let alone afford to pay for it.
  10. Torx 27 will do the job too, funnily enough. I didn't have long enough imperial Allens once and the Stihl t handle bailed me out I'd try that cylinder, think I've run worse. But don't those 181's have NLA pistons with NLA thin rings or some weird consideration?
  11. What's the state of leaf blowers these days? It's gotten to the stage that I need a 2-stroke leaf blower. Are battery blowers at the stage where professionals are ditching 2-stroke blowers in numbers yet? Has anybody used one of the cheapo B&Q/Lidl/etc blowers for sub £200? Any of you lot switched to battery and have a 2-stroke blower laying around you don't want or can't be bothered to repair? I've got 5 years experience on strimmers, saws, mowers, hedge trimmers, but never touched a leaf blower. Bit unsure. Thanks.
  12. Absolutely this, and not just financial struggle. I think a lot of people are experiencing fallout from a few years of mental and physical health problems piling up. Kids, students, and the elderly had a particularly rough time but we're all in it together. I'm not sure about the exact ratio of arseholes (it's always been off in the UK) but I feel it goes both ways and some people are genuinely being more kind, empathetic, considerate, post pandemic. Confirmation bias is a thing too, don't focus on the arseholes.
  13. Do you find it smells a bit like frying bacon? First time I ran it I legitimately thought someone was having a fry up.

    Too much?

That's way too much, send it to me for safe disposal. Forwards chain creep means overly loose clutch springs therefore backwards chain creep logically means overly tight clutch springs 🧠 No but really I'd measure your squish and confirm it's not too low. One of my 254's ran and cut great with 0.017" squish, which might even be OK on a 50cc saw, but I wasn't comfortable. Would rather have long lifespan than very high compression personally.
