  1. thanks .can you test a coil.still trying to make bits at work for the spark plug opening as well as decorating
  2. once upon a time i remember them being not such high maintenance
  3. agreed. tester came today but am waiting to get to work next week to make a fitting for the spark plug opening to test the crank seals,

  7. ok so i just had a look at the ms171 while i'm waiting for my vac/pressure tester for the 266.if i put the needle arm level to the floor, then the needle cant move up.the only way the needle can move is if i bend the arm higher which according to the zama website is wrong.
  8. ok i'll look again on that.are we saying level with top of carb frame or the indent bit where pin and screw are?
  9. ok i will have to bite the bullet and get a pressure/vacuum tester because i have another 61 and a stihl 171 both have have new carb kits but still bog down when started.thanks for your help hopefully this will pinpoint the problem/s.also it came with a throttle rod that looks off i dunno what,the only place i can find a new one is off the bay from china.
  10. hi all them things ive done, will try the sealant under the seal holder i think you mean the round plastic bit with three bolt holes in.what sealant would be ok?
  11. ok i will stick it on the fire pit, the muffler i mean.i haven't got a pressure tester.
  12. hi new crank seals fitted and new carb,am now scratching my head as what to do next,i've had tank vent out is there a way of testing
  13. hi first post so don't be to rough.i was was given a husky 266 se as a non runner and parts missing so i thought in lockdown would be a nice little project. first off good clean and strip down new crank seals oil pump o ring and x ring new carb kit all oil and fuel pick up lines and filters and intake gasket.still not running right had carb apart 3 times now,so bought a chinese carb which is better but still dies after about a minute ticking over.sometimes hard to start when warm it may need choke.all help appreciated.its driving me nuts
