  1. The panther mill in my opinion just has 2 advantages. 1. Easy height adjustment. ( Doesnt matter to me, since i have my Jigs for various thicknesses) 2. Sturtier profiles (30mm works just fine with 107cm, if it should be sag on the 150cm i am going to use 60mm) That dont justifies the big costs on it. But if would definetively buy it, if i just would start from new. Why should i sharpen in the field, when i can change the chain in 5 min? In my Workshop i have a MAXX Chainsaw grinder, wich is going to do the work afterwards.
  2. Nope. Can someone give me some arguments?
  3. Going to post some pics when i am in my workshop. Yeah it was designed for clamping. But this takes just too much time for chain changing. I stopped the time and were by 5 minutes for my 107cm GB bar. In my opinion the time wich i spend at the milling place is really valuable. My goal is to slab one whole tree , load it up to the trailer and store it in my workshop 1. Floor in just a day.
  4. I've bought it here, since i am from Germany: Premium Motorsägenzubehör - Sugihara - Stihl - Tsumura - Carving WWW.PREMIUM-MOTORSAEGENZUBEHOER.DE Sugi Hara, Sugihara, Tsumura, Stihl, Sugihara Führungsschiene, Tsumura Führungsschiene, Stihl Führungsschienen, Stihlketten, Carvingschiene, Carvingketten, Husqvarna... Just have a China Mill. I increased the thickness of the top clamping mechanism and thread bolded it.
  5. @Rough Hewn How can i contact him trough this forum? @Stubby This wouldn't be a problem to me. Just want to know if there are any complications when drilling trough the nose of the bar.
  6. Hello, i recently received my 60 Inch Cannon Super bar. Now i am unsure wehre to drill the holes for the Mill. In wich hole would you drill? I think 2 would be the best, but not sure if it is a good Idea for the nose of the bar... I also marked the hole for the auxilery oiler kit. This one should be ok, right?
  7. Ok. Then i am going to buy a 10° Chain. But still not sure if i should choose hyper skip or full skip. What about durability/number of cuts on those? I suppose, that the full skip stays longer sharp, but is slower than the hyper skip, right?
  8. I am not sure about that. Currently i have 4 Chains. 3 x Stihl PMX Ripping Chain and one Stihl PM3 Cross Cut Chain. And once i tried the 30° Chain i was surprised how good it was cutting. Felt faster to me than a 10° Chain. It's not about killing the saw. For me it is importantnt, that the saw is running on high RPM and is not bogging down. That is, what i understand in fast milling. I am using the winch anyways and found the finish of the 30° chain not that bad. So wich one should i choose? A Skip, semi Skip or Hyper Skip Chain? 10° or 30°? That is what i am talking about. The wood is going to be planed anyways and i calculate my wood slabs oversize so i have room for that. Personally i dont like the Granderg 12 Volt Sharpener. In my opinion it is hard to all the teeth to the same length with this device. I bought a stationary device and drilled trough my mill to get rid of the clamping for faster chain changes. I was just asking, because i dont want to buy a lot of chains and try them out. Just wanted to save some money and buy the right things from the start.
  9. But isn't it slower than a 3/8 full chisel with a 30° top plate angle?
  10. Hello, currently i am using a 42" 3/8 low profile Bar from GB. I recently upgraded from a Dolmar 9010 to a Huskvarna 3120 XP and got less cutting capacity on the mill because of the bigger head of the Husky. So since i wanted to upgrade the milling capacity anyways it is time for a longer bar. Thought about a GB Titanium R Series Bar in 63" in 3/8. Recently i tried the Stihl PM3 Chain on my 42" Bar insted of the Stihl PMX milling cain and was suprised of the results. The finish is not that bad, how it is described in many times with 30° chains. Also it seemed faster to me and the saw was running better with no bogging down. I just want to get the whole milling process faster and more efficient(gas usage), including the chain sharpening process. So should i try a Skip/Hyper Skip Chain? Wich chain would you recommend for faster milling on a 63" Bar?
