  1. Haha it's not even as technical as that and just a backpack for your daily things like a jacket, lunch, flask etc rather than a kit bag for gear for now.
  2. Can anyone recommend a decent backpack for when you're working out and about on site? Cheers
  3. Hi James, I have sent you an email about this in case you are still looking for people, many thanks, Toby.
  4. Hello, I recently passed my wood chipper, CS30 and CS31 courses and am looking for some part time work to gain further skills. I am located in Norwich and currently available two to three days a week. I hold a clean driving licence and am willing to travel within Norfolk if there is the opportunity available for work. I am reliable, a hard worker and keen to get started. Please feel free to message me on here or contact me on my mobile and I can send over my latest CV if you would like to see it too. 07462 110695 Thanks, Toby
  5. Hi Tom, Are you still looking for someone for this at all? Thanks, Toby
  6. Hi all, I am looking for work in the Norwich/Norfolk area whether it be a new starter role or trial days with someone to get started. I have a wood chipper, CS30 and CS31 tickets and am based in Norwich but can travel. I am reliable, a hard worker and keen to get started. Please feel free to message me on here or contact me on my mobile and I can send over my latest CV if you would like to see it too. 07462 110695 Cheers, Toby
  7. Hi, I'm looking to do my first woodchipper ticket and am not sure whether the Lantra integrated training or City & Guilds is best? What are peoples opinions on which one might be potentially better? I got the following sent to me from the trainer Lantra Integrated training and assessment £140 +vat you will receive evidence of training and lasts for 5 years. City & Guilds integrated assessment £230 no vat no evidence of training, certificate for life will still need to be refreshed every 5 years for insurance purposes. Thanks
  8. Hi all, I am looking for any entry level work in and around the Norwich area. Whilst I am new to tree work I do have experience doing garden maintenance from a previous job which involved grass cutting, weeding and garden clearance, I also hold a clean driving licence. I currently work in another job but am available Friday to Sundays and I am really keen to try and get some experience learning the ropes with a view to doing more work over time. Cheers
  9. I was just referring to Conor's point about 'High wages in a high cost environment can end up the same as an average wage away from the hustle and bustle' rather than specifically moving to Norfolk for tree work but that is worth knowing, thanks.
  10. Absolutely and that was one of the reason for moving back to Norfolk.
  11. Thanks for the advice on trying out a longer stretch for a trial. I am sure it would be a wake up call I am not doubting that. I run regularly and do some marathons so am fit in that sense rather than being a gym nut so would hopefully help in some regards.
  12. True. I was in a more senior position before when I was In London so whilst its a different city and London wages are different and all that, I am in a role with less responsibilities so the salary is different.
  13. Thanks for the replies so far the general consensus seems to steer clear though! I could see if I can get a trial somewhere like some people have suggested and see how I get on and whether I like it.
  14. I am currently on £19k a year but will be going down to £14k after my hours are adjusted so not huge money I would say. I have had a bit of a look at tree surgeon salaries but there seems to be a bit of a range. The plan would be to supplement my income to start with which seems a more sensible way to do it.
  15. Hi guys, I am new to this forum and am looking for advice/opinions on how to go about getting into working as a tree surgeon. To give a bit of background I am 36 with a wife and two children and have recently reduced my hours to part time with a view to getting experience working with a tree surgery company. I am hoping that having one day a week free might give me an opportunity to get my foot in door with someone even on a trial basis to start with. I understand that exploring this type of work will take time at the very least amongst other things but I am keen to try something else after doing online advertising for 9 years and feel that going about it in this way of reducing my current hours is a safe approach. I would consider myself physically fit and also have some garden maintenance experience which I did as part of a previous job I held for just under a year which may help in getting into working with trees. I have some savings together and I have looked at various training courses and tickets but am not sure what route might be best to start with. 1 - What would your opinion be on me going down this route of trying to work with trees at my age and experience? 2 - Would you say it is worth getting a few essential tickets first perhaps or maybe contacting companies to try and get a trial shift or weekend working with them instead to see how it goes? 3 - Do you know if the market is particularly saturated or unsteady in Norfolk at the moment? Any thoughts and advice would be much appreciated. Cheers
