  1. SCOTTISH BRANCH WINTER SEMINAR & AGM – FREE! The Scottish Branch is pleased to announce it Winter Seminar and AGM. It will take place at the Camperdown Park, Dundee. This appropriate setting is easily accessed and provides many mature specimen trees for use to take in during our guided walk. The walk will follow two great speakers in the morning; Paul Muir and Duncan Slater. Camperdown has been specifically chosen because it was the base for Eric Hamilton during his long tenure at Dundee City Council. We will be planting a tree to honour Eric’s memory and hope you can join us in doing so. The event is free of charge and all members and non-members are welcome to attend. The Insitute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education has launched a major review of apprenticeships for Agriculture, Environment and Animal Care in England. The review will recommend changes to our existing apprenticeships and set the priorities for apprenticeships in our industries going forward. I can't speak for the Land Skills course but our Intermediate course sole purpose is to be a stepping stone and bridge the wide gap between the Basic Tree Survey & Inspection (BTSI) and the Professional Tree Inspection (PTI) courses. To add there will be 2 tutors at our intermediate course allowing for 1 to 1 support to all the attendees to ensure they are ready for the PTI. We also include a Visual Tree Assessment walk (VTA) which we don't believe is offered by Land Skills. Finally, the tutor is a highly qualified Arboricultural Consultant who is also the PTI tutor which will be very helpful when you progress to the PTI.
