  1. Sooo today didn't go to plan and I never got to the job with the new machine. (It's going to be done tomorrow now) so the update on what she's like and how it performs will come tomorrow. I did check over all components today and well.... I love it. So robust and makes my other machines look very small and flimsy. Cracking bit of kit and very well engineered.
  2. It's much bigger than I remember them when I was over in the US a few years back. Possibly due to there trucks being so big. Will give it a once over in the morning, all being well it will be out for a days work.
  3. Let's hope so. Think it's in need of some new bearings but I've just gotten home and knackered. Will be in the forest tomorrow with it, I'll let you know how it gets on haha.
  4. Well here she is, making the fender look small haha
  5. Cheers for the replies guys. Again personal opinion but I completely agree with you Marc. Mick, bandit looks good. It's just 5k more than the Carlton that I know of. With some of the support from guys who've replied I'm happy to repair it myself if needed. As mentioned I have a Land Rover haha, I'm really happy on the mechanics stuff (probably better on the spanners than tree work haha) Must say I'm fairly new on here, never really been one for forums but I'm starting to appreciate them haha, Some good info and advice to be had, much appreciated.
  6. I would watch out for the conversions on that. Looks a heavy set up and will massively reduce payload.
  7. Depending what you want to spend by far the best mods in order of cost in my opinion as follows; fuel pump (10 min job costs nothing) cons- black smoke under load. In conjunction with above - updated full size intercooler. Pros - will reduce black smoke caused by above mod and give serious grunt. Veritable vein turbo - expensive but what a difference. Turner head - again bit expensive for a work truck but again in line with above makes a massive difference. You'll see over 170/80 with all the above done and even better torque figures. Not sure where you are but if you ever need Landy help or parts jusy shout.
  8. Thanks Global, its a little more reassuring knowing there's someone that can get parts and service etc. Where abouts are you guys based? I do also like the bandits but like you say, this ones come up cheap and well even if I spend a few quid making it reliable I think it will be very useful for us. I have however just noticed the mention of 12", I believe the 1790 is the 9inch not the 12. Not sure if people will view it differently on that basis but from what I've seen and by speak to my friend in the US they chip over 9" just more stress on machine I guess. Could be wrong and it maybe 12.... I've never pretended to know what I'm talking about haha
  9. Boost pin? Can you not just turn the fuel pump up?
  10. I guess I'm drawn to it purely because i love a toy haha. Ideally i would like it to have some worth in a few years once I'm done with it but hopefully someone will want it. I've seen a few over here in the UK so people do use them just not as common as most brands. i like things that are different i guess. Will give Orange a call tomorrow after work.
  11. I wonder if it's the one a friend has for sale (plant dealer). Is is he based around derby or the Lake District (can't remember where it's based now haha) It's a shame the support isn't available in the U.K. For them. Out of intereste what did your friend sell his for? One I'm looking at is 2009 machine for 8k + vat regards, Glenn
  12. 46!!!!!!! Was you doing 40 the whole way home?? That's good figures. I've got a 300 but my td5 beats it on fuel. Get about 450 miles per tank (80quid) not bad I thought. You defo won't get that around town, you could run that on veg oil tho mate??
  13. Sorry Pete, so are you a dealer or can you undertake service work? The machine is a 2009 with 600hrs. I'm good condition and has been owned from new by a friend of mine from Scotland. Like you say they are heavy. It comes in around 2.4ton and will be pulled by a defender so fully loaded it's all going to weigh a fair bit. I've just never really seen people use them in the UK. Just wondering if it's due to service etc. I also run a TW150 and 190 so this thing is more a want than a need but I'm keen to make it earn its keep. Also so if anyone wants to comment on how much my TW150 would be worth I'm thinking of selling her on. It's a 2014 with 350hrs (going up daily). Cheers, Glenn
  14. Looks good mate, 300tdi... your not planning on traveling to far in that are you haha. I'm a big Landy fan
  15. 560.... I'm a stihl man but the latest stuff..... the husky wins my vote.
  16. Evening All, New on here fairly new to tree work (18months). Just wondering what you guys all thought of the above. Friend of mine is from the US and all the use is Carlton or Bandit in his area. I've seen one for sale and was wondering what you all thought. Any experience and knowledge of local dealers/support would be good. Based around the Midlands. Cheers, Glenn
