  3. Nah mate You'll need to send to US chrome after boring up to 70mm if you're serious. That'll turn it into 090 10 cube

  6. Here mate Top left hole is made by owner to improve flow, but i closed the whole stock system and opened dual port tubes
  7. stock 880 muffler is one of the worst among the clogged one's I've seen on other models and make. Closed the oem opening since it has to through a maze before leaving, opened 2 tube style outlet. Dual port muffler now
  8. Lol it belongs to a friend, recoil got knocked by a log. He patched it while waiting for parts to arrive

  10. Ms660 is being discontinued in 3rd world countries and the buying spree world wide has gone crazy. Looks like even 3rd world will see strato design slowly in every range
  11. Im not sure about the exact figures, all i know is 404 puts heck a lot more load than 3/8ths. 404 rim/spur is slightly bigger, so it robs more tq and gives abit more rpm. Ported 395 wont feel 404s load
  12. 395xp is my all time favourite 90 over cc saw, smooth like a babies butt. Yet powerful, they dont make like this anymore. Ported 395 is a weapon to be reckoned. Here's my ported 395 with triple port muffler tube style and custom made case guard
  13. Dyno owner Joe Harkness and myself had long conversations about cut times vs dyno, its very consistent. There's small room of error when b&c combo and sharpness vary. Its a decent way to measure power increment. You could be right about piston weight being trimmed on the big ones, i have NOS 090 top end. Will weigh em when im free one of this days
  14. Yes mate, the 10 cube 090 which supposedly had 70mm were made in a limited amount. Maybe 10 units, they're monsters
  15. I never understood the concept, but few porters and repairsmen have said the same thing to me. Lighter piston means more rpm and tq The balance of top and bottom is negligible i think? AM big bores have heavier piston and they dont cause much vibe issues. On stihl 1106/09 series when you convert 070 58mm kit to 66mm, crank stays the same. But the piston gets an extra whooping 8mm increment, weight is increased by few folds here
  16. Im not even sure mate, carb and coil seems to be limited at different rpms? Too many carb variants, tilly and walbro. The one im working on with 361 coil turns 13k with slight burble at top, thats as far is I'd like to go on a big saw like this
  17. Rpm Yes i stand corrected, should be 11.5k on the 880 i believe? Too many variants on the literature among the 1124 series. Ms880 with ms361 coil swap gains good deal of power, ignition advance built in 361 coil feels alot better than stock 880 limited coil. Albeit it trying to bite when pulling over
  18. Precisely inertia, hard to gain and hard to lose. Majority of tq from a motor will come from the heavy reciprocating weight, tq x rpm is hp. If you can spin heavy stuffs fast enough that motor will generate lotsa power. But manufacturers tend to put governor and rev limit to prevent the motor going way up and getting jolted or stopped suddenly. That'll cause damage, crank can get snapped. Thats why almost all new big saws have rev limit of some sort. Ms880 walbro wg12 is limited carb, ignition is limited at 10.5k 3120xp is even worse no H jet on carb limited at 9k and ignition is limited as well Cs1201 is carb limited at 10k
  19. Another interesting thing about the mac kart engine was someone found a way to increase power by welding extra weights on the crank. It became common at some point and i think uncle lee had that done in one of his mac 101b cart motor, it pulls hard. Untill the weld came off and halted the motor, no damage i think. He managed to fix it back, the video of it running and seizing is somewhere in youtube
  20. Lighter piston will give more rpms and tq, weight on top vs bottom difference is important. The greater the difference the more tq and rpm it will have, 268 piston in 372xp oe is a common mod in canada. Those guys love that setup, 268 is 12g lighter than 372 oem piston. With pop up it loses even more weight. Here's a pic

I thought they released compression a little to make stopping less violent? you're right marine engine are very close in terms of design with chainsaws. 2 stroke diesel with uni flow scavenging i believe? Ours is piston ported 2 stroke loop scavenging The weight is concentrated at this web i was told
  22. Uncle Lee is the guy to talk when it comes to dolmar 166, i think it could have lower bore size like 52mm maybe. But stroke is 48mm i remember that, uncle lee has a hybrid 166 with 090 top end. They got a video of it running 72" bar in upstate gtg couple years back. Uncle and I go way back, i sent him 3 units of 1201 and took me few years to find a good used 1200 to complete his big echo collection. Half of the 166 exist on the planet could belong to him, he had like 30 over 166s! At some point He loves muscle saws, sent him a NOS Jonsered 920 last month. Last i heard his collection was close to 500 saws
