  1. Wish they were all like that life for a miller would be easy and  good ground
Was hard get out and up the bank. Had to drop, unwind, and winch up a few times[emoji6]. Once on yard, lifted one side at a time and pressure washed. Then tidied ends up. This was all easy...20210311_143755.jpeg

  2. I run 4 Caddy Maxi vans for work. Farm vets. For past 10 years always run on all season. Lots of mud/rain/muck/water etc on country lanes and lot better in winter too. (I used to offer my 4x4 landy in bad weather but nobody wants it)
No more fuss on changing winter to summer tyres (hard to get timing right in UK weather🤣).
Vredestein quatrac 4, not too expensive (60,-) front tyres do wear on these vans but last forever on rear ( if a wall puncture doesnt write them off). Buy 16 tyres at a time and keep them at local garage for fitting as and when required.

  3. Thanks, will get some metal legs made, so just need the slabs out of bottom trunk..
Might get some structural bit milled out of higher up bits. Was really wondering how much 'wastage' to allow (cupping/warping).
Will probably use it 'green' in 12 months time and then rework once completely dried out in new house[emoji3]
Exciting! Nothing beats using your own wood.

  4. Haha, well spotted. Was a bit of a puzzle getting it down. Had a lot of weight hanging into neighbours field, top left. Had to put 5t winch cable 4.5m up to pull opposite way. Hung it into huge beech tree this way. Then released winch cable and it landed perfect, parrallel and inside fence. Not bad for an amateur.. took me well over hour to get in done (safely). I have tractor to move/handle it..

  5. Nice train carriage how long did it take and what’s it going to be used for when done
It is a birthday present for wife, will be a shepherds hut to put on top of hill in field to enjoy outside time. Hugely satisfying with all your own wood, all bit oversize.. framing is 10x10cm, roofbeam is 6.1m longx 10cmx30cm. No sag there. Floorboard 30cmx4cm (planed).
Reduced cladding to 20mm, normally 25mm as shed/garage cladding. Need to take bit of workshop out as wont fit through doorway. 20190810_133201.jpeg

  6. It was/is our dream car... last of the 5 cylinder diesels, D5, full leather..
Never found a car with better seats.. these are all electric too.
Wife also reluctant to let go but I just signed 4yr lease on Amarok, I rebuilt my Landy and got spare VW caddy maxi at work, also series 3 landy for weekend jolly,
so not realistic to think we use again... just so much emotion.. had all Volvo estates, 240, 740, 940, V70bifuel and eventually this one!!
We are 2nd owner and did 100k in it (lots of trips to Holland).
Has newish Xclimate tyres, 17", few little electric things that can be sorted. I drive it out the shed a few times every year and is permanently on trickle charge. Never fails.

Anyway, will have to be very close to 3.5k to consider.
It costs me nothing to keep[emoji6].

  7. I have 55reg XC70 ocean race in storage. Couldnt part -ex it for peanuts.. so kept it under cover.
We now have a VW Amarok and Defender 110 as daily (work) cars.
2 years ago with all that snow the best car was the Volvo!! The perfect travel car, 6sp manual, 185bhp, nothing beats it in bad weather. (Only deep snowdrifts).
It is for sale to the right person[emoji6].20190330_155944.jpeg

  9. Can anybody advise which planer to go for? I shortlisted DeWalt 733 and Triton 317mm. The reviews are remarkably good for the cheap Triton.

Building a shepherds hut. Waney edge larch cladding. Want to plane carcassing and floorboards. Structural 100x100mm, boards 40x250x5000mm

Wont be using it much after...20190328_065651.jpeg20190407_170631.jpeg20190328_101609.jpeg20190328_152527.jpeg
