I don't know what your budget is, and if you consider a 2nd hand selfpropelled machine? one of our german dealers has a refurbished model on stock:
https://www.hafera.de/gebrauchtmarkt/herder-fermex-scw-410h/
This is the older model which is 89cm wide (the current model is only 79cm wide)
He doesn't speak english, but nowadays google translate can help you out...

The Stumpcutter is a Herder Fermex (http://www.herder.nl/en/herder-fermex/ ), the tractor is a 96HP Valpadana.
Here a link to an other topic where this Alpine is shown.

Takeuchi excavators are know for their Hydraulic power!
Various attachement have different flow's, so it is good to check the requirement of the attachements.
Are you still in need for attachements? we, www.herder.nl have several attachments in our product range. our UK dealer, DOW (http://www.woodfuelmachinery.co.uk/ ) will be on the CONFOR exhibition and showing/demonstrating a tree shear and a excavator mounted stumpcutter.

I have a predator 450 but am thinking of adding something with significantly more power.
We do a lot of stump grinding in built up areas where garden access is through 2'6'' gates. In reality this means about 2' 5'' absolute maximum.
The only thing I have seen that fits these requirements is the 38HP predator.
I am going to get a demo from them fairly soon but wondered if there is anything else which fits the bill. Also I've had reassurances from Predator that the early problems have been resolved -
do owners agree with this?.
I've read through the stumpgrinders thread but still can't see an alternative.
The Jo beau looks neat but not much more power and quite wide, I like the build quality on Carltons and Vermeers but again... wide.
Come on you salesmen - what am I missing?
Hi All,
an old topic, I know, but hopefully not too late:
I'dd like to bring our machine to your attention: Herder Fermex SCT 410H, as recently shown to the ARBshow.
This machine has a width of only 31"! and with its high torque 4 cilinder diesel engine (32HP) it's has a high capacity. We did run it against a 44HP (also diesel) machine and (also the customer decided) it has simular capacity.
Might be worth looking at it... also available as a wheeled machine...
Here our website:

Evening all,
Currently looking to upgrade the grinder and was set on the Toro STX-26 (34" wide) until I spoke to Dean at the show and realised that the ZT1844 (29" wide) won't break the bank.
Lost count of the number of jobs where we're scraping the tyres at 30". Taking the gate off is fine until it's brick walls etc.
The HB20 and JoBeau B24-100 are down to 25" but I'd rather have a track machine with a lot more power.
There's also the Predator 28x at 26", expanding tracks and a price tag to match.
So, how many jobs would you be able to get a 25" machine in where 29" is too much? Or am I over thinking this?
Regards,
Steve.

Hi Ronald - impressive kit. 3 main things:
- The site is not written by a native English speaker so it's losing a lot of potential persuasive impact
- There are just too many words - it needs thinning / editing throughout - stuf like 'H... assures the highest quality, the best results' is filler - it falls into the category of 'I should hope so' - if I have to read too much of that sort of stuff I may just give up
- You're slightly overdoing the 'we' throughout the site - get the focus back to 'you' (your customer's problems)
Hope that helps
Hi Mikerecike,
Thanks for your comments.
on point 1, you are totally right. I didn't realise the "size of the impact", but as said, thanks for letting us know. I will ask "native english speakers" to review the translations and try to improve the texts.
I also will bring the other 2 points under the attention of my collegue who is responsible for the website.
Regards,
Ronald

Nice pics. Not heard of that make stump grinder before. Dutch company?
Yes, it is a Dutch brand. The brand exists over 30 years, but was never active in the U.K. (as far as I know). We, Herder b.v., took over this brand 6 years ago. First we re-designed all models and now we are introducing the brand on the U.K. market.
We do have tractor mount models, excavator mount models and both tracked and wheeled diesel powered stump grinders.
Here you will find an overview brochure: http://www.herder.nl/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/Stump-cutters-ENG-PDF-04.pdf

If the machine is properly supported on its support legs there is hardly change of bouncing. This is due to a combination of; high weight of the arm incl. cutting head, the high swing mass of the (big diameter) cutting wheel and the high torque/horse power on the cutting wheel.
