I only burn conifer. In the days when I had an open fire I'd only burn hardwoods, preferably beech or birch. The softwoods spark too much on the open fire

My wee Landini 50HP Mistral with super wide tyres and 6 ton Farma trailer and crane

All sounds good.
We buy chain in 100' rolls. Do Piranha do 100' rolls? If so I'd be very interested in .325" and 3/8"

Ah, the Rancher was the first saw that I bought new, many years ago......1981 I think it was. Worked it for 3 years, changed the carb on it from a grey top one and it worked well for another 12 years, then i sold it to my younger brother who still uses it to cut slabs for the kiln at his pottery.
Only other saw I had that was as reliable (actually more reliable in hot weather) was my old 166.

Thanks for that. I find that it's just the 12-14" stuff that really needs re-splitting especially if the customer wants short length logs......there's some that look like slices of cake.
I made a lever for splitting from the knife side, it's handy and reasonably quick for re-spitting. My biggest concern is that if I need to change the knife regularly for differing sizes I'd be as well just re-splitting and accepting a little time loss in a day
I can imaging there would be a lot more debris with the 6 way splitter, but I might be wrong.

Just bought a WP36 processor that has a 4 way blade on it. Great for processing stuff up to 10" but a lot of larger stuff needs re splitting which takes up time.
Wonder if anyone uses a 6 way blade and finds them to be much better. Reluctant to pay £500 for something that will be chucked in the back of the shed to gather cobwebs.
Thanks in advance

I'd say the bloke conning you out of the 3K was the moron, you'll just be like the rest of us normal folks.....trusting

Sure the ref made a bad call, but the Scots made a bad call throwing long in the line-out, where a throw to the front would have sufficed. We lost the game due to bad decisions, just look at Finn Russell when he caught the ball inside his 22, instead of calling a mark he opted to give a dreadful pass which in turn led to the Aussies running in another try.
We have improved a bit since the 6 nations, but we are still not near to the level of the Aussies or any of the other semi finalists. Time will help, but there's still a need for a conveyor belt of young talent to nurture and guide in the right direction

Phoned about it, almost as cheap buying new from M Large in Antrim by the time haulage to here is added. No come and go on price and not willing to deal through eBay's system.
Still looking

Had mine for about 3 months now and have put slightly less than 250 ton through it without any problems. Had several loads of old sitka at 3m and up to 30cm, fresh sitka at same dimensions and larch at 2.5m up to 35cm and not less than 16cm. Coped very well with all of it and took two good 8hr sessions to do an arctic load.
Freshly cut birch at 20-35cm diameter has proved to be the toughest challenge for it yet.
Oak lengths at up to 35cm has proved to be the quickest of all the hardwoods we've done so far, even the very knotty stuff goes through the processor quickly.....if it doesn't split the oak it cuts it easily. Not tried any older beech in it yet, but most of our time is spent with either sitka or larch and I've not been able to find fault with it dealing with them yet.
Using both the Honda engine and tractor pto. Certainly the Honda used to stall sometimes, but that was me getting used to the machine's capabilities. When going from PTO to Honda engine I do see a difference in speed, but it's hardly likely to cause more than a cube difference at the end of a day
Good wee machine that has really made a big difference to our firewood processing capability
