Hi, thanks for your input, i use softwood and hardwood, being a chainsaw novice i have only been making mushrooms and a few garden seats, i use any wood from 8 to 10 inches and up to any size that can be man handled, i'm also looking for any large crosscut pieces for garden tables etc, could you please let me know what sort of prices you are looking for, thank you for your reply.   6. Thanks for the advice guys, if i were to find a tree surgeon willing to give me some wood would i have to season it before carving ?? or can green wood be carved ?? Cheers for now Peter.

Hi all, i am new to chainsaw carving and live in Durham, i have been scavenging wood from fallen trees in the local woods and have been making some large mushroom carvings and a bit of log garden furniture just to get the feel of the saws, can anyone tell me if there is anywhere in the Durham area where i could buy some large logs or stumps for carving, thank you.
