    The arboriculture industry is rapidly expanding, fuelled by growing awareness of the need for correct tree management and increased current public interest in environmental issues, with opportunities to work as: • A self-employed arboricultural contractor • An arborist for national parks and gardens • An arborist for local authorities • Arboriculture consultant • Woodland Manager ENTRY REQUIREMENTS Candidates will hold Level 2 qualifications including GCSE's of grade C and above in English, Maths and Science. You will also be able to work comfortably at Level 3. Previous experience and qualifications will be taken into account. Entry will be subject to a successful interview with a member of the Arboriculture team. You must be over 19 to attend this course WHAT DO WE OFFER? Based at Otley Campus, this course is the first and only 10 week Level 3 course in the country. It is designed to fast track people from all walks of life into the industry. THE COURSE Wherever possible this course is taught offsite so you experience a realistic working environment. We aim to prepare you with the requisite skills for immediate entry into industry. A main component of the course is a BTEC Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma in Arboriculture which is made up of the following units: • Tree science • Tree identification • Tree planting pruning and aftercare • Chainsaw use and maintenance. • Tree felling • Tree climbing and aerial chainsaw use The second component prepares you for NPTC units: • 2003 (Previously CS30 Chainsaw maintenance) • 2004 (Previously CS31 Tree felling) • 2013 (Previously CS38 Climb trees and perform aerial rescue) • 2108 (Previously CS39 Chainsaw use in the tree) You will also have the opportunity to do a basic First Aid certificate. COST For the Level 3 Subsidiary diploma in arboriculture: • No fees if you are 19 and this is your first full level 3 • £1600 if you are 19-23 and you already have a full level 3 • £4425 if you are 24 or over *24 plus loans are available for those over 24 years of age at the start of the course please contact student services for further information. For NPTC Registrations: • All students will pay £500 for NPTC registration for the competency tickets PROGRESSION After the course you will be able to continue onto other courses or work in the arboriculture industry. Many students who enrol on one of these courses go on to set up their own businesses, based on the training that they have received.

    Is there a way of getting cheaper prices on courses ? I'm 23 and roughly 5000£ is too much for me and all I want to do is better myself with my tree work !

    Does anyone need a place to get rid of unprocessed timber in Norfolk, willow, poplar whatever unprocessed timber I'm willing to help out !! I know it's probably a stupid thing to ask but always worth asking !

    There is no terminals for topping up distiller water so should be ok left on slow charge overnight I think

    Why would you change your car battery if it goes flat ? My battery on my freelander 2 has gone flat - so I've disconnected it, breather pipe and everything and stuck it on charge !! Surely that makes sense instead if buying a new one ? Surely that will work !!
