Thanks for that Steve,

As for the budget I haven't got one really , I was going to save up and get the one that was best and look after it, ( a bit like that with my stuff).

The stihl 362cm was my first choice as I could work 16-20" bars and was not too heavy 5.6 kg, The clutch drum bearing are they a big deal to change? and is it an expensive job ? is it something I could do myself?

I agree the husky 365 xtorq probably does it all but at 6.5kg excluding bar its a big lump for cutting small stuff . The Echo is similar 6.2 kg.

love the feel of the 550/560xp's, but they seem to get so much bad press had almost discounted them.

thanks dave

Hi Spudulike,

I am looking to purchase a saw have been doing my homework for ages now and its time to bite the bullet. I see that you are in the business of fixing them so maybe you might help. I am an occasional user, so cutting with a 16 inch bar will probably serving 75% of my needs, but where i live we have a lot of Oak which if it falls is fair game for firewood and there can be some big stuff. I have trolled this forum noting the pro's and cons of one brand and model over another and but still find it difficult to decide.

I will quickly list the one's that have interested me, I want a pro level saw and overall weight is important too, so here goes:

stihl 362c ,261c, echo 620sx, jonsreed 2255, 2166 (or husky 365) ,and 550xp.

I am aware that a lot of the views on here are those of professional users and a such appreciate their gear must work all day for them nor is its going to last forever. I would just rather not put my hard earned into obvious problem.

many thank

dave
