It will be weakened but not necessarily by so much that it needs removal. I suggest your first move should be to have it assessed by a good arborist.
In assessing trees, the first thing we are taught to look at is the target; that is, what the tree will fall on if it does fall. If that's something of high value to you, then certainly get it sorted.

Monkey puzzle trees are Araucarias. We have plenty of Araucaria heterophyllas where I live.
I've only seen one Araucaria araucana (monkey puzzle tree), and that was in a park across the road from where I lived when I went to uni. I loved that tree. It was mature but didn't have that "lion's tail" growth form at all, so I also thought something was wrong with the OP's specimen.
As for lichen, I also thought it could be indicitive of a problem, being evidence of fungal growth.
Sorry to be the lone digressor on my first post here Maybe it shows I'll learn a lot here.
Husqvarna 365 replacement piston cylinder

Hi
I have an old Husky 365 special that I pulled apart last night. The piston and cylinder definitely need replacing. Can anyone tell me whether I'd regret spending so little on Chinese replacement parts? They're so cheap.
Will I lose power? Interestingly, I can get a 52mm bore which is rather an upgrade from the 48mm original.
