  1. Got mine on a 20 inch bar I reach for it over the 361 or 260 even when in smaller stuff.

I'm the same, the 461 is amazing and I generally use it over any other saw, I run a 20" sugihara most of the time, I think it is the perfect bar on this saw for hard wood at least, but it does run the 25" very well too.

  2. fantastic timber, both for turning and furniture.

All timber is toxic in particulate form.

yeah, but apparently yew wood contains taxine same as the foliage and seeds which is toxic to your heart, obviously all wood dust is bad for your lungs anyway so shouldn't be breathing it in in the first place, and I imagine you'd have to breath a lot in to die from the toxins.. nice wood, made a few knife handles out of it.

  3. here ya go Jon

still processing so quality might be a bit low till it's finished.

dunno how to embed video on here.

  4. Shhh! Don't tell anyone but I got that contra I turned into an 090 for £200!

Seriously, contra's can be picked up for peanuts as nobody knows enough about them, the points usually need replacing or they've been shoved in a barn for 50 years and need new rubber bits to make them go! Mines 45 years old now and still runs like an angry panzer

interesting, the stihl I'd really like to get hold of is an 076av or maybe an 056av never seen a good bargain one though, everyone is after them it seems, got my saw fix for the time being now anyway in the MS461.

  5. Hi rune 20" is a nice size I think thanks Jon

yeah it is, it handles really nicely with the 20" not that the 25" is bad by any means! but I won't be needing the 25" that often, and the 20" is nice to use, it is actually surprisingly light to me having never had a saw this big I've got nothing to compare it to in use, but it seriously doesn't feel much heavier/more tiring to use than my little 280, just cuts a whole lot faster haha.

  6. My phone ran out of battery today, but here is a shot of the 461 with the 20" sugihara, I will get a video of it cutting some of that ash soon, hopefully tomorrow if there is a dry spell ;) got a fair bit of 20" ash now some for milling perhaps.

edit: and yes I know the logs will be pressure washed before cutting haha

  7. bit of a weird one, my sugihara 20" for the 461 just arrived, it says .063" 3/8P on the box and the bar?? but a 3/8" chain fits on the bar, weird?

edit: is it just stihl that use P for the thin chain? I've only owned stihl kit before.

  8. Yes I did ! Know nothing about these saws just looking at the moment with interest for a 372 replacement.

still only the same weight and a bit less power than the 461 though, but a bit more power and a bit lighter than the 576, I went with the 461, nice saw.

  9. HI RUNE any video of your 461 yet mate thanks jon

hey sorry no, my brother had a mtb accident in inverness so I had to drive up and get him, not had a chance to do much else, got one of cutting a couple of small logs but that doesn't show you much tbh

  10. thanks guys that's great wasn't sure if they were all the same fitment, don't think I'll be porting mine I'm happy with the power and reliability is more important to me, just ordered my sugihara 20" from chainsaw bars will call the dealer Monday about bumpers ect

    thanks!

  11. that'd be great if you could find the part numbers! thanks :)

mine is 25" at the moment too, but I'll be getting a 20" for it too, not worried about losing a little bar length though!

  12. I've got the extended bumpers on my 461 and they make it a different animal! Need to get one of those wrap handles, can you buy one without the rest of the rescue conversion kit?

where do you get the bumpers?
