If you think that is a bad design look at the Toro wheeled mowers it uses a bent piece of metal that's bent in such way it springs against the deck to select the height.

Can't you put the 346 top end on these

I have a echo c4400 and I'm unsure on its value I bought it last year as it was very cheap.

I just don't have any use for it so I don't see the point in keeping it

I'll get some this week I've nearly managed to get all the missing parts. ill probably have to get creative with anything I cannot get.

I have two 020av s one is missing quite a few parts but the other runs really well but leaks fuel from the tank so next job is to split and clean it and make a gasket.

I've got a archer chain and bar on my pole saw as I don't use it often I didn't want a expensive bar and chain and I find it cuts well for what I've used it for plus I haven't sharpened it yet. It only has cut 6inch max branches and probably only a hand ful

One thing for it loctite the bolts I've done this on loads of 350s as it is very common on those.

You using a transit by any chance?

Sounds like the crank seals are gone as soon as your saw starts running crap and holding revs with no throttle it's a air leak either crank seals or else where

If you look for the plastic glue with powder you carefully build up the plastic in the holes the re tap them. this sort of stuff http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&id=181962680815&alt=web

It's is one of those 4 stroke ones have you checked the breathers. Has it been sat upside-down or something as oil can leak in places like that.

Take the exhaust off and check for scored piston as even if it feels like it's getting compression you'll be surprised with how scored it could be.

All depends on how much you want to pay if you want a new saw or don't mind a good used saw. The saws that come to mind are the husqvarna 254 or 346 the stihl 026 or a dolmar I think its a 115 someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

If you would like a new saw echos are good very reliable

The husqvarna 550 is good but depends on if you get a lemon

The stihl 261 is just a good as the husky

And dolmar still make the 115

Have you un screwed both needles as they sometimes get crap behind them or just might need a new set or carb gaskets

Have you cleaned the carb out it might look clean to your eye but once you have stripped completely and cleaned it. It should work I quickly cleaned someones 024 carb and that wouldn't rev up even after a quick clean but after a proper bath in the ultrasonic cleaner it ran perfect

I have a eBay one paid about 60 for normally just use boiling water for carbs depending on how dirty never had a carb it hasn't cleaned.

It all depends on how far you want to go stihl and husqvarna are easy to get parts for.

Jonsered are a pain to find parts for on older saws like 2051.

Hi I have a kubota g21 hi lift and while moving it around after putting the deck back on it let out a puff of white smoke and cut out and now wont start. Its fluid levels are fine any suggestions ?

Id have a look for either a hayter harrier or a honda with a cast alloy deck. I have used both and the honda is a more robust machine but expensive when it goes wrong. While the hayter has a plastic under deck that can get damaged very easily. Both mowers are extremely good and if looked after will last ages

I'd suggest the echo or husky as a occasional user having a pro saw gives much more confidence and I find them alot easier to use

Ive noticed the fs 70s shafts bend never really seen strimmers do that before I might try swapping the engine out for a fs 70 on the 4 mix if it ever dies its never let me down yet.

Its just people constantly breaking pull cords from being heavy handed and misuse of machinery. I just find the fs 70 does not feel so well built as the 4 mixes but there is a new 2 mix out I presume to replace the 4 mix the fs94 and that looks pretty good

The pull starts wear I've replace like 5 complete pullstarts due to the ridge for the circlip on the pull start wears. The shafts constantly break due to people running too much cord and straining them constantly. The problem I find is strimmer guard is useless compared the 4 mix.

They normally leak if stored on the resting on the air filter side I have a fs 90 with same problem ive given up with running it with a air filter I know its not advise able but the machine has been used for at least 4 years 5 days a week and all that has gone wrong is one faulty carb. I would definitely not recommend the fix above those fs70s are constantly going wrong at my work
