About to set up on my own and have been looking at costing for advertisement.
Been thinking about Yellow pages and there online sites, local service guides in my area and obviously a well designed sign written truck.
I know a lot of you will say word of mouth, but could do with some opinions on what to not waste money on.
Thanks:001_smile:

Is it a no brainer when it comes to deciding between a green mech or a timberwolf. I am looking for a 6 to 7 inch chipper second hand with a budget of 5 to 6 thousand. I have timberwolf dealers near to me and green mech so parts would be accessible.
Any thoughts on what the best option would be

Thanks for all your suggestions, i have found this site extremely useful.

I just fork mine out mate saves me £3000 for a conversion and takes 10 minutes not a big deal really
Think i will go for the cabstar as i can fit more chip in at one, i would hate the idea of multiple runs to offload chip somewhere having to leave site each time.

What about a standard hilux and change it to a tipper when funds allow
would be stuck with a chip problem then
-
if you go off road, 4x4 pick up with tipper is great.
budget might be tight though.
I swear by my hilux tipper, old but handy.
the 4x4 option means we can get as close to the tree as possible, get where some people cant and can get rid of woodchip in a muddy field or on a farm etc.
would i have to buy a hilux and have it converted? Would that apply to any hilux model?

I love the idea of the hilux tipper but struggled to find many for sale, would it be that a conversion is needed or are there many already for sale? Cabstar is looking like a good option, tidier than a daf too

tell me more, is it a certain model that started using ford engines? Think i heard that

I agree about the LDV's

Hi Guys i am new to this site so would first like to say hi to everyone.
I am moving back home to the UK from a 2 year stint in Ireland and i am going to try and set up small scale on my own, i have been doing some budgeting and trying to prepare a business plan and for a truck i am looking at about £3500 to £4000 for a truck. Does anyone have any advice on makes models etc, i will be looking to tow a small 6 inch chipper ( either a jenson or timberwolf ) so a tipper is going to be essential. I have been looking at transits and ldv's but would love to get a wider opinion on this as i know its going to be tough.
Thanks
