  1. Who am I to disagree, but... the leaf structure of those in the fuzzy picture taken from TV and those of published pictures are quite a bit different. There is far more texture and serration to the leaf in published form, where my picture shows a more persimmon or tupelo like character.
  2. I live in South Carolina, USA. I recently saw a beautiful tree in red Fall foliage on a TV program; it is in Lorie, France. I was able to take 2 photos from the television to aid me in identifying it. One shows its overall form, the other shows a leaf closeup. I asked tree experts at nearby Clemson University, and their best guess in a Black Gum, although several suggested it may be a European specie unknown to them. The logical person to ask would be someone in France, but I don't speak the language. I have two opinions from the UK: Elm and Persian Ironwood. Can anyone identify this tree? Thank you, Don
