  1. I've just received my HAAS today but didn't have enough time to set up for tomorrow. I had a little play but ran out of time and the way I was trying wasn't right.

The videos show the set up using a hitch climber and/or rope wrench for SRT or DDRT.

Has anybody got a picture of the set up with a Hitch Hiker.

I never really use lanyard over shoulder and just hoik it up as I go along cos I don't often do big ascents in one go. But I would like to make more effort 😄

Have you tried using a lyon sling as a chest harness mate works really nicely

  2. They are a major step down, IMO, the 540 has the power, but its made from plasticine, mine is 6 months old, the fuel tank is leaking, the side cover fits poorly, the chain tensioner is poor, the rear av spring is shot and the top handle is folding where the switches and trigger are. Mine also runs poorly, cutting out when hung on the harness and often cutting out for no reason.

OK the the 201 lacks power, but IMO is better built than the 540 (I had a 201 for 6 months or so before it was stolen) I have just bought another 201, I can accommodate the lack of power, adjusting my cutting methods accordingly.

I just need a saw thats predictable and will at least hold together.

Completely agree :thumbup1: and Tom I think that tenner is mine it's just a matter of time mate:001_tongue:

  3. Cheers Marc the questions where open to anyone mate I only aimed it at Ben and dan as they both mentioned not using spikes and to me that is very alien as I've always used them for removals drt. And yeh someone else told me that both pantin and spikes can be used at the same time I just havnt tried it yet

  4. Hi dan and Ben do you guys choose to not wear spikes because you favour using a foot ascender instead and also because using redirects means you can gain a much better positioning and therefore don't need them. I too currently only use srt for reductions and sj for removals so any help n this is much appreciated

    Cheers luke

  5. So you would say the Unicender is where it's at then. My only concern was service life, it's a lot of money for something that may only last a year. Hopefully they will bring out a more durable one.

You can get an attachment for the uni called the drum which dramatically increases the life of the uni and I think also enhances the proformance

  6. might be a bit obvious, but always feed the line back into your cube, putting it on the ground just ends up in a mess twigs and **** getting it all bunched up! took me a while to get in the habit of doing it though!

    i have a falteimer and a stein ( pure shite! ) cube,

i think about 6 or so bags of various sizes

have some cheap elderid line maybe, cant remember had it for a bit!

for double bagging, i always attach an extra bag or 2 on just to make sure it will drop back down, can be awful frustrating sometimes!

i love the throwline, guilty of using it sometimes even on small trees where i could easily run up and have my anchor in by the time it would take me to open the throwcube!!

Would you advise against getting a stein cube then nifty
