  1. I am looking for a self employed climber for a few days a week to start with in the Crowborough area. Hopefully as things develope there maybe be the opportunity for full time work. Ideally be confident with dismantles, small to medium reductions, hedge trimming and reductions. Will also be expected to help with grondie duties. For the right person there will hopefully be the opportunity to be lead climber / team leader of second team. Need to be able to drive. If you can drive a 6.2 tonne truck even better. We are small business, we pride our sleves on the quality of our work and the relationships we have our customers. pm me or email [email protected] cheers John

  5. I am looking for a self employed groundsman / second climber to join on a part time basis in the Crowborough area. There will usually be 4 to 5 days work a week depending on our work load. Must have relevant tickets. Ideally be competent enough to handle dismantling, minor rigging operations, small to medium reductions. There would be a couple of trial days to start with. Own kit desirable and transport essential. I am only a small business we deal mainly with domestic properties but some commercial stuff pops up now and then. starting mid feb or sooner Please reply to [email protected] Cheers John
  6. Got given one a while a ago, no good for on the floor but can be handy in the tree as long as the handle does not come off at the crucial moment. Used it to block down some long heavy oak lumps the other day, just makes it a bit easier to get them to topple of the pole.
  7. Hi, I hope someone can help. I need a new burnsite as my current one is a bit unreliable at the moment. The vast majority of stuff I chip so dont have many fires and im only a small 1 team operation. I am also possibly looking at renting a new yard/lockup as at the moment I rent a leaky sea container and a puddle to park my lorry in which is getting a bit tiresome. If I could combine the burnsite, chip disposal and yard then great. Does anybody know of anywhere in the crowborough area that might accomodate some or all of these things. Cheers, John
  8. Just lots of slugs.
  9. I wussed out of that option! Had bad experience being in beech tree falling over a while ago. Insurance Co was going to pay so we got a platform in. Had to eliminate all risk especially with now live power line underneath. Did not help that we heard a crack on the first day after the main stem fell.
  10. No the car is a bit squished, along with a lot of other stuff
  11. Hi Swinny, Power company eventually came and freed the cables. Dunno if was still live did not fancy finding out. As for the tree there is speculation that the cause is poor pruning back in the 70's in the form of flush cuts and subsequent rot as there is evidence of 5 of them around the area of failure. There were no fruiting bodies or die back anywhere. Don't know how deep down rot goes yet, sorting stem out when garage is demolished.
  12. This Beech fell apart in the recent storms. It was a beautiful 80ft tree overlooking a village green. We got the call on Monday morning from our client saying the part of the tree had fallen on the garage. We did not quite expect the scene of devastation that greeted us. The entire garden was filled with tree, one of those big thick power cables pinned to the floor, crushed garage and car. One big bow of the tree remained looming over the victorian well house and customers house. Its been an exciting few days sorting this out!
