A slight aside, somebody mentioned the 4x4 capability of the hi lux versus the defender? As an off rd driving instructor I would say defender every time if you want to keep going off rd. no I don't own one as they are slow and uncomfortable, that said a well maintained one will last for ever. Most problems arise on any make through poor maintainance or if they are new! New motors seem to keep wanting to go back home.

Don't the community payback teams use pink?

Hello gingerbread,
If you haven't already found a supplier I would be happy to provide you with seasoned oak. My telephone number is 07814 006639.
I have plenty in stock- over 200cubic meters and and based in ascot area. Alastair.
You got anything other then oak? I tend to run a mix rather then just one wood. I am based in Thorpe, on a boat so have no storage space, do you sell by the rubble sack? No worries with collecting.

Bit of research out recently from one of the university's, cyclists are no safer in high vis then without.
No idea how they did the research. ( not saying this is anything to do with arb , just a connect ting).

Can't stand Xmas, would love to be out working. Good money, empty rds and every one pleased to see the man with the chainsaw , what's not to love?

That early disco is the same as a defender , just a a bit more rounded and with miastro van bits on it . It's more then likely the hand brake warning switch. Either sticking , so needs a clean , or it could be warn and just making a connection randomly.

I remember an item being paid for by cheque ( it was the eighths). The lady gave me a hard stare as I took it from her, her name on the cheque was miss p enis. Kept a straight face till she left the store.

I had two trucks nicked when based in Camden town, I put a dead lock on all the doors. Couple of times the scrots opened the main door locks to find that the door wouldn't budge. Standard lock smith abus locks, with the lock bolted to the body of the truck and the tongue of the lock engaging the door.

There is spray on plastic stuff as well. Cheaper then rap, peels off like rap and a bit tougher. Looking to have my disco done with it. Oh and more colour choice. Can't remember the name of the product unfortunately.

Given that paid holidays in an employment (ie not self-employed) contract is a statutory entitlement set out in the EU Directive on Working Time 1998, requiring all employees to have four weeks paid leave over each year, what was their reason for this?
To get round that pesky law they pay your holiday pay up front as part of your hourly rate, this is helpful for people on very short contracts and bumps there pay up. But for a long term contract it's a nightmare. And no the hourly is not higher then normal. So if you take holiday you loss a weeks pay that month.

Today is my last day working for a well respected outdoor/ski retailer, I was employed as a manager. On my first day when I signed my contracted I found that the pay did not include holiday pay. Would have been nice to have been told that when you offered the job I said, oh that's normal, tesco's do it was the reply. Signed the contract coz I had no choice, I have left at the first opertunity .
It was a labour government who allowed zero hours contracts, the party of the working man?
W$#nkers.

Main stealers really are poo, never use em. My insurance paid for a trip to the dealer, took em five days to put a new tyre on. My local Indy had my truck dropped of at 1330 on a Friday had swapped out a blown turbo and got me back on the road by 1330 Saturday. Top service, worth the four pack I dropped off on collection.

Up an oak in boreham wood I found a bill hook and whilst felling a beech in Croydon we kept blunting our big saw. Whilst chatting with the old girl that lived there we found out a doodle bug had demolition the house opposite. Bloody Luftwaffe stuffed a new chain!
My old partner still has a ring from the tree as a table, nice shine bits of bomb case all in it.

my icebreaker has done three years of proper abuse. expensive but worth it.

British is defo best if you you want hi spec kit made. Which is why brompton bikes have set up two shops in China, massive market for British manufacturing in China, the Chinese accept that we make high end stuff better.
Sadly we British have a weird mind set that makes us think people are anti China/Taiwan/Korea if we don't want stuff that's made there.
That's got to change, our industry's are world beating, look at the bike triad alone- hope , renthal and brompton all made hear no out source. The rest of the world knows it why don't we?

Hi guys,
Had problems with a 150 vario track.
The rollers run fine then stop, wiggle the safety bar and it runs again then stops . Have tried wiggling the switch under the control panel which gets it going again but it is now stopped. Chipping fine just rollers dropping.

No way round the electronics? My truck still thinks it's got rear air suspension. But then it's 13 yrs old and not that bright compared to later models.
Canals & waterways

I used to do tree work for British waterways in London, a bit of a nightmare to deal with to be fair. EA who look after the Thames and rivers are much easier to deal with.
