  1. I may empty the tank tomorrow and put it back on Stihl mix and see what happens. I have to say the tank is spotless the machine is as new. I have heard some on here mention their Stihl not running right on it. What i Don't want to do is tune it to the point that I can't run it on normal stuff without a re-tune. Marc.
  2. This is what baffles me it was literally running on Stihl red mix, ran it for 5 mins just to pay attention to the smoke and smell. Switched it off, emptied the tank had a brew, filled it with Aspen and it would not start. After 10 mins It started but ran terrible. Marc.
  3. I'm going to play with it tomorrow. I put it in my brush cutter (Stihl 4mix) And that runs ok , a little low on tick over. Marc.
  4. The machine is about 2 years old but only has about 40 hours on it now. Been on normal stuff from new. Would effect it that quickly? I was running the saw then I emptied the tank filled with Aspen and it would't start, 5 mins after. Marc.
  5. I'm sorry this is not a chainsaw but I wanted to get as much input as possible. Today I bought a 5l can of Aspen, but my HS45 simply won't run on it. It took me 20 mins to start it. Only starts if I press the throttle and when it does start, it only revs enough to just move the blades. It coughs and misfires terribly. So what's going on, does anyone know? Thanks, Marc.
  6. Just bought some Aspen an hour ago but my HS45 simply won't start on it. Any ideas? Marc.
  7. Hell fire. No need to sell Aspen just sell spouts! Marc.
  8. The most important question I have to ask you is: is that little spout really £14?! Marc.
  9. I don't want anyone to fall out over this of course. Do I think my thread was hijacked? Not really but I do understand TCD's comment. Guess this is a bit like the Husky/Stihl debate a little. There will be strong opinions from both sides and I appreciate all responses. For me I am interested in Aspen purely because it wont go off easily and I might not use my machine for a couple of months at a time. However I think if I was using my stuff more often then I would use HP and good petrol. As it is half the price. There is a guy 3 miles from me that stocks it so i'll give it a go. 'Would aspen like to reveal EXACTLY what upper cylinder lubricant is in their product? Technical and MSDS data?' This I agree with very much! I do like to know what oil is in my stuff. Marc.
  10. I'll be honest the fuel I have a the moment is 12 moths old. I have had not problems, but would like to keep it that way, long term. Marc.
  11. OK Eddie, I'll give it a go. The fact that it can store for a long time appeals to me as I may not use my machine for a couple of months at a time. Kind regards, Marc.
  12. I'm not against Aspen, I can see how it would be beneficial and I am willing to to try it. @Eddie. How long does Aspen last when in it,s in in own container? Marc.
  13. I'm not against Aspen and like you I don't use that much fuel so it wouldn't be that expensive over the year. But it is still twice the price of a good 2stroke mix and TBH I have a lot of faith in good fuel (Shell/Esso) and synthetic lubricants. Marc.
  14. Thought that might be the case, but thought I would ask. Good stuff everyone, thanks. Marc.
  15. Just a quick one. How long does the HP oil last (unmixed) when stored? Marc.
  16. Yes I did really, but I do appreciate your suggestion. Had a look, probably over kill for my use. But thanks. I guess I am interested in what you're all using and your experiences with it. The Stihl is probably the easiest to get hold of but I just don't know if it's as good as the price of it. Kind regards, Marc.
  17. So looks like the Stihl is quite a good choice then? That's what I was going for TBH. No offence to the Aspen fans here but it's too expensive and I have not seen it around here. there red diesel is cheap though at £12 a gallon! Thanks for the replies, keep them coming, Marc.
  18. I don't know if this is the correct place to ask, I searched and couldn't find the answer. I have a HS45 an FS90 4mix and soon will probably be getting an Echo cs352. So the question is, what IS the best 2 stroke oil? I have been using the Stihl red but now I need some more and have seen that Stihl recommend the Stihl super for the 4mix. But are there better oils? Something that will be good for the all my stuff. What do you guys use? Thanks, Marc.
  19. Ok, good stuff. They seem to be a fair bit cheaper than the Stihl 181 and yet have a pretty good spec. Might just be the saw for me. Marc.
  20. Felix why do you prefer the 135? I know it has a bigger motor but I'm keen to know your opinions on the complete saw. Quality etc. Kind regards Marc.
  21. Thanks for the replies. I have to say that because of Stihls' policy It looks like I'm being pushed towards the Husky. The facts are that my local dealer is not cheap, I just rang him for a price. So the husky is £165 vs £220 for the Stihl. That's quite a difference. It's a bit annoying really because all my stuff is Stihl. So with that in mind would you guy's pay the extra? @ Doobin. From what I have heard the 236 seems to be a lot harder to start than the 135. But It's only from what I have read. Not from personal experience. Marc.
  22. Hi gents, I am looking for a new saw, nothing big, firewood saw really, bit of pruning etc. I have narrowed it down to a Husky 135, stihl ms181 or even a 211 at a push. I have Stihl stuff and it's served me well, but I keep hearing that stuff from them is getting made a little cheaper nowadays. But I also hear people saying the little Husky's can be a bit of a pain to start. Please give me your opinions. Thanks, Marc.
