  1. Well i was playing with the 550xp running 15" today and it was as on par if not better than 346xp couldn't fault it. looks like 5/0

  3. Aye I have worked with larch on Steiner 28ft band saw before that shut down on the blade stop the saw dead it snapped a few blades too not fun when working alone mile from anyone. It was called Japanese larch I think twisted like a ***** hope life will easy'er with the Alaskan mill with the lager cut
  4. Aye there was 3 vans done in one night not that long ago builder, painters and a plumbers all in Lochawe All you need for a self build the *********

  6. The van was parked up overnight outside house in Lochawe. Don't know why he had them all in the van he can,t use any of them:confused1: well that bosses and their toys
  7. Hi all As I'm new too the chainsaw milling i was wondering what woods are hardest to mill what puts the most strain on the saw. I have got some larch that I'm going to rip up into 6 by 4 mini sleepers to make a retaining wall around garden and was wondering how tough it was going to be compered to the cherry that i just done
  8. Hope not wife's wanting a nice bench made out that lot bit of a waste of nice cherry but should look really good. It will be a long time drying with the weather here

  10. Cheers. Aye cherry's a lovely wood. It's not my first time milling timber I had a sawmill a long time ago for 5 years . Great to be cutting some wood again.
  11. Hi nice bit off kit But there should be at lest 2 dogs holding the log in place too stop the log shifting will cutting,

  13. Just had my first go on the small mill I'm in love (don't tell wife) Ms290 small log mill & a 6 ft cherry log = 3 nice 10"/11" by 1"3/4 boards Will up load some pics when I get back
  14. After reading this I also went for the Small log mill to go with my wee saw. Going to go and see what the inside off a cherry log looks like when it gets here lol
