Hi everyone
Just collecting some information about mechanical grapplesaw ideas and I wondered if i can pick up your brains about this.
There are few firms seems to be running merlo-gmt or manitou-gmt setups and i was just wondering what type of insurance, qualifications required to run, legality over driving on the road, RAMs required, tax, MOT, any uk dealers and repair specialist or any related issues if any.
I know there are alot of people not fun of these machines but any positive input or info much appreciated.
Thanks in advance

I had a crafter where i use to work and that had dodgy wiring.it kept cutting off while driving.( not great when you are fully loaded+ pulling tracked chipper) it was less than a year old van. Not good

Hmm it doesn’t appear to be full 4x4! Also its pretty much like crafters apparently but would of like to see if anyone owns one and what their like. I suppose they only started doing small vans 2017 so probably still early days.

I havent looked into too deep and from my understanding on whats on google they dont kill the tree. However it causes significant damage to leaves and surely that will have an impact on trees overall health.!

Hey up
Vans up for sale now if anyone looking for a van.Check on arbtrader.

They were a bit floppy actually so ive braced it together with some 20mm steel tube from top and a thin 5mm ali composite signage sheet on top for lid which cost 6£ from recycling place as they are expensive otherwise but yea so far been great.
Corner joints are not great but does the job.
If you do it measure carefully if you want perfect joints.best of luck- 1

Make no mistake it's a pro machine not your amateur homeowner toy. The chute is coming off & it's going through a house next week (hopefully!) it won me the job ? I took a gamble with it as it was unknown to me but absolutely no regrets here. Can't fault it, we'll, electric start on the dumper engine would be nice! ?
just been watching you vids on you tube it seems to take decent size wood without strugle.5k brand new sounded a bit expensive for an unknown brand but it looks like a decent piece of kit. Thanks for quick reply

I'd hoped to take a video today but my helmet / camera bracket is broken. My only experience of gravity fed machines were on cheap 'toys' not pro kit like this & make no mistake it's a machine for full on pro use. Got to say I'm very impressed so far but only chipped for a few hours today, a full load of macrocarpa, a few bits had to be forced in due to the shape of the hopper but you don't even have to sned everything into straight sticks as it drags the next bit in ready for the blades. For a one man band I'd say it's a game changer. Day one, very impressed & very happy!
Danny if you go out on the road for a few weeks with a demo machine I reckon you would sell bucket loads of these...
is it still going good? what would you say pros and cons.Looking into it so final verdict would be helpfull.Cheers

Is it just me that confused by that statement %125 exceeding ?

Cant seem to see the date so unsure if this is recent but what parts of the country please? Cheers

Traceability is the key for LOLER so if i cant trace and find any info its a fail for me . My advice is try and avoid buying any vital climbing gear second hand as you dont know if they been hammered so any new equipment keep all paperwork for LOLER.Be safe

No worries.i have bid for stuff tomorrow in the past but havent got anything.you just need to remember %16 interest and %20 vat on top of final price so you dont end up with a surprise.a few people i know gets stuff off there.they sell a lot of gear regular.good luck

Has anyone registered and/or has got anyone working for them through kickstart scheme?
If so how is it working out or is it waste of time and effort?
Cheers
