  1. Now the Husqvarna T536 Li XP has been out a while does anyone have anymore more opinions. Looking at getting a new topsaw, running a couple of 200ts at the min, looking at getting a 150t for lighter reductions. Then this little voice keeps pulling me towards the t536. Does anyone know if an updated version is coming out? or echo...... hmm....? Im thinking for lighter work when the 200 is quite needed
  2. Looking at getting a new helmet, ive used the petzl vertex and have done for many years but want a change. Mainly use it for climbing, was thinking of getting the stein kask. Any thoughts/opinions
  3. Good idea, i'll look into the electric fencing, i just presumed it would be quite pricey
  4. if i suggested the pig she'd seriously go for it
  5. Lovely piece of work.. did you have to wait for the wood to be dry or will the oil stop it from cracking?
  6. I have a customer who owns a horse and has a problem with acorns, she's quite old and has a hard time picking them all up, but doesn't want the tree removed. I dont want to suggest a 30% reduction, or thin as the problem will be the same in a couple of years and she doesnt have the money to keep getting it done. I normally wouldnt suggest a pollard or 50% of the tree reduced in height then sides brought in, as I know this will end in either killing or stressing the tree resulting in putting on loads of epicormic growth, (shes not to worried about appearance) i guess my question is will the epicormic shoots produce alot of accorns, and will a pollard most likely kill it, the tree is healthy and around 60-70 years old.. I could phase it over a 5 year period but i really dont think she has the money Any advice appreciated

So the question is, wait for the ms661 or get the ms660 now. Kinda lost confidence in alot of the new stihl stuff

    ms660 recall

it was just what i was told, but yeah must be the 661. I saw the 660 on the honeybros website and thought it might have been an updated one. So i take it the 661 has been recalled and the 660 is still being sold

    ms660 recall

does anyone know if the new stihl ms660 have been recalled?
  10. Thanks for the reply s. We've got the same problem with the 88 too, which had a full service, and refurb from our mechanic, im thinking there just old, ive never actually had the pleasure of using a new 66 or 88 so nothing to compare
  11. Been using bosses 66 today, and having a bloody nightmare. I reckon it could be between 10-20 years old. It hasn't been regularly serviced but has had the odd going over. New filters etc. The problem is it just doesn't seem to have quite enough power, sounds like its tuned fine, air filters clean, new fuel filter. Im just thinking its had its day. Taking it in to our mechanic, so im sure he'll know. Just wondered if anyone had any views, before i started advising boss to stop being so tight and fork out for a new one
  12. Great vid, great track. Made me wanna go out and do a crane job!
  13. hopeing by the time things get sour i should have hopefully enough work to go out on my own
  14. And it will always be looked after as its on site with me
  15. Thanks dn22 i think that sounds fare. It should only be for a couple of months as he's buying a second chipper.
  16. We have a good working relationship but he could get funny the more i do my private work. Ive explained im starting up my own business and he's tried to talk me out of it every way possible. He offered me all sorts of deals which i excepted but said i am still starting on my own. think he thought the pay generous rise etc would put the starting my own thing on the back burner. It hasnt, so now his asks me to work saturdays but im decline as im working for myself then have to go to his yard to get my van... his wife gave me the demon stare!
  17. yeah its a tricky one. I can see it ending badly, but i need him as i can gradually break my days down and build my own client base. Ive worked for him for 6 years so i think he trusts me, even tho he's the most untrusting guy ive ever come across, ive never put a foot wrong so that counts for something. But realistically once my work starts building up he'll probably drop me in a second, he's a business man so everything has to benefit him, even when he makes out hes being a nice, generous boss.ITS GONNA GET COMPLICATED
  18. i know what he'll do.. we always work quite local so he'll send one team have them stack it up then get the other team to come along and chip it later. Never works out and ends up pissing customers off but thats the way he likes to run his business. Or maybe start 5 jobs at once trying to keep everyone happy (or seeing the $$$) then everyone just has a headache and everyone ends up stressed and pissed off. He knows best tho he's the boss. Doesnt piss me off one bit, honestly!
  19. That does sound like a nice sum but he definitely wouldn't go for that. Im on 125 a day, then thinking 70 for chipper 40 for van, all rubbish tipped at his yard. remembering if my kit breaks id like to think i can hire his off him even tho in reality he'll be using it so probably wouldnt happen. My chippers just sitting there through the week so want to make something
  20. Starting up on my own so got a van and timberwolf 150. Still work 5 days a week for company, as were busy the boss wants to hire chipper and maybe van off me. Im not sure what's a fair price, considering ware and tear. Does anyone else have any experience with this or some suggestions. I kinda need to keep him sweet, as he lets me tip chip and good logs at his yard and leave van there, this was all a deal that came about when i said i was going to work for someone else. It all works to his advantage but i have to make it worth my while. Any help would be much appreciated.
  21. Hi all, i've bloody lost my copy of 'Diagnosis of Ill-health in Trees' does anyone know where i can get a copy at a reasonable price. If not does anyone know of a similar book. Thanks
  22. thanks hodge i'll give them a try
