  1. Wouldn't it be great to have a resource of case studies from arborists about the benefit of wood chip mulching? An increased knowledge and practice would improve tree health and maybe increase the price for your woodchip pile. Ideally before and after examples. Maybe examples of regular care as well as reactive use of woodchip. Tips and advice I.e not too much etc How not to do it too. I.e ruin the roots digging up the grass first. A resource can be used to convince skeptical customers and the odd council. What do you think? Ken
  2. http://www.lewiswinch.com Anybody used this attachment, looks kinda neat to me.
  3. Doh. I canny keep it to myself. Please ignore above posts peeps.
  4. http://www.turf-services.com/80140/contact.php Ladds garden centre between reading and maidenhead has a free tip site. Call Claire from turf services first to arrange.
  5. Build as many logs stores as you want, you could probably build a log cabin but never ever finish it. It is unlikely unless the locals are really up in arms that a caravan would have to move every 28days. Just keep things out of site and out if mind. Being a freeman tends to scare the bejesus out of planners.
  6. Not sure what side of reading you are, but Ladds garden centre towards Knowl Hill has a shredder, there is a charge i think but it is lots cheaper than the tip. Talk to http://www.turf-services.com helpful people.
  7. I have used it and would love to own it, plenty of well thought out tools to go with it. Keith from microarbtruck gave me a demo. Just gotta save up, think there is a thread on here with the prices. As a small operator it would definitely increase my work rate, plus it looks professional. I think it would also help bigger operators making it lots quicker to clear with long tiring drags, like an extra man or two, wages being a huge expense. When demoing it i was surprised at how much cord I moved in a short time. Ideal for me would be jo beau chipping by the tree and filling a vented dumpy of chip carried onto the back of my trailer, followed by the cordwood. Leave the dumpys full at the yard and stack the cord. This is his link http://www.microarbtruck.co.uk/
  8. Had great afternoon with Keith and the microarb truck, winching, dragging and moving tonnes of timber. Imo this micro tool has macro capabilities. One person can achieve so much with this machine. Pull out a hung up fell, safely from a good distance. Take the main stem using the log arch to the timber milling store. Stack the cord lengths on the truck and trailer and take to the log store. Pull the brush up to the chipper or fire site. Take the arisings away in a sack bag on the truck frame. Take a load of chopped wood in a dumpybag and drop it off. The point is that for a fraction of the cost of a loader or which would struggle in most woodlands one tree feller can achieve a lot safely and with less effort. It is a work smart tool good for productivity and with a lower environmental and financial impact. After I buy a new 4x4 I will be getting one pronto. it dragged this oak stem.
