  7. Hi all, Is anyone interested in some ash cord and rings that I'm going to have from a job in harpenden? The job is not in my area and don't want to ferry it all back! The main stem is approx 24" at 1m, I reckon the wood will weigh in at approx 3 ton Pm me if interested Thanks Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  8. I know I'm probably guna get some real flak for this but here's one I trimmed earlier with my hedgecutter :-) I would never usually do this, but this tree is so vigorous I pruned by hand about 5 months ago and now just guna keep tight trimming the new soft growth with a trimmer to keep it tight! Topiary on a trunk :-) Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  9. No lesions on the trunk, I've been watering it every 3 days but maybe I've not been giving enough for these dry conditions? Just don't want it to die on me as I planted it two years ago with my daughters placenta lol! Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  10. Any of you knowledgable arborists know what this is a sign of on my Quercus ilex? Just a couple of leaves have gone like this and the tree is young and still containerised Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  11. It may be that after further investigation with an ariel inspection that a reduction or removal is required, not been up yet though but prob will get the picus on it to see what's going on in there. As for the limb I think I'm going go with the majority and leave a good stub Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  12. I usually cut to the collar, the tree will naturally try and remove a branch at this point so leaving a long stub makes more work for the tree in my opinion Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  13. Well you'll have to wait a while mate, tree seems ok at the mo but it's in mk Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  14. Well from the look of it, won't sort itself out just decline and fail! Be one for you that will, 20 ton of beech fire wood :-) Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App

  16. Cheers stoner ill look into that! The limb has torn right back to the main trunk though. I wouldn't usually be bothered and just let nature do its thing but two previous wounds on the same level have left large cavities so just wanted to try and prolong its life! Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  17. Cheers stoner ill look Into that! Limb has torn right back to main trunk though. I wouldn't be bothered usually and let nature do its thing but two other previous wounds on the same level have turned into large cavities so another isn't going to help the structure at all, so just wanting to prolong the life of it really Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  18. Has anybody on here ever used or know of a good product that can be applied to a cut wound where a branch has been removed to help prolong the decaying process before the tree calluses over? I have a large beech limb to remove that is weather damaged but it looks like its just going to become another rot pocket! Any advice appreciated guys Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App

  23. Can anyone shed some light on where I may be able to get a splice/ fid kit? I've searched the net and the USA have a wide selection but can't find anything in uk. I've just ordered a bulldog rigging plate from the states and want to put some splices in my lowering ropes

    Lowering rope?

Cheers fellas, I'll try these out. Also I found a supplier of a pull winch 3200kg rated with 16mm wire rope for 250.00 most others offer them at around 400.00. Is it wishfull thinking that this would be as good quality as the more expensive!!
  25. Can anyone point me in the direction of a good lowering rope supplier, I'm after 16mm but want a spliced metal ring eye in the end. I've had a browse and could Purchase the rope but would have to then send off to get it spliced. Any info appreciated! Cheers guys
