  1. Just bought a Gandini chipper 04MTS 7 inch can any body give me any info on them as in regard's capability and spare's or any other useful information on them please
  2. Cheer's mate the way that I look at it is that I had two "option's" I could either ; a) use all my available "fund's" to go on training course's and get my "ticket's" all the while earning "no money" to pay my bill's e.t.c. and then have no fund's for a truck or tool's and snooker myself ! or ; b) use my "fund's" to buy myself a decent truck and some tool's and to get myself out there earning a few quid to pay my bill's and put some by toward's "training" and ticket's and to also "get a feel for the job" I am well aware and comfortable of what my capabilities are, and thank's to this forum I've had quite a few offer's of help if there are any job's that come up that are beyond my own capabilities
  3. Cheer's mate 50 is the new 30 !! especially when you've got a 21/2 year old toddler running about keeping you on your toe's (my oldest is 26 )
  4. Has anybody heard of Maruyama tool's supposed to be made in Japan ? and if so are they any good ???
  5. Sorry mate it's a friend of my son who's almost completed his college courses, I've never claimed a cent in all my life I've always been an "earner" I'll pay my own way like I always have done
  6. :laugh1: I knew you all thought I was a youngster Although I'm I still think I'm in my 20's in my mind !!! I hope you lot are not "ageist's" !!!!
  7. Hi guy's once again thank's for the input as one lad has quite rightly "assumed" I just haven't got the shilling's at the moment to take any course's although they are a "priority" but in the "cold light" of day I really do need to be out there "earning" as My Transit tipper has swallowed the "bulk" of my money and the tool's that I've managed to get together so far have about took up the rest although still a long way to go as regard's getting all the tool's together goes tool wise my next purchase that I'm saving for is a decent top handle saw for my "lad" to use when he's available as I said earlier he will be fully qualified come May but I can have him in when he's not in college I would like at this point to say that this is a complete change of direction for me at a pretty late stage in life I'm 50 this year and I'd like to publicly thank Andi for his offer of a few week's work which I would take up if he was closer !! thank's mate your a "goodun" like so many on this great forum
  8. Hi mate, thank's I'm in Staffordshire
  9. I will do I hope that I don't get to much grief though !!!
  10. Once again I'd like to thank all the member's who have responded to this thread I've just been and purchased my Silky Zubat 330mm, ready to go I do appreciate "ALL" comment's even the "negative" one's !! I know that I'm inexperienced and I am well aware of all the hoop's that I will have to jump through to get where I want to be within the industry, however the thing is I'm self funding my start in the job and I need fund's so that I can get up and running and invest in training and all the other thing's that need to be done so I have to work and earn the money to pay my way, one thing I was born with was a good portion of "common sense" I know what I'm capable of and what I'm not however I've got a young lad ready to "jump" on with me and he's just about to complete his course's in May he's got all the climbing gear and the education. However I realise that even if he has all his ticket's and qualification's it still doesn't mean he's experienced, which is where hopefully my common sense and methodical approach will compliment his knowledge
  11. Hi mate, well I've got a aluminium tower, husky 346xp, rake, rope a couple of tarpaulin to put on the lawn and obviously some brushes oh and a transit tipper to remove all the waste
  12. Thank you all for the advice it's a great help and I'll take all the positive and even the not so positive "advice" all on board I think I'll be investing in a Silky Zubat 330 mm tomorrow it' One thing I will say is that I've been reading a lot of the thread's on this forum and I think it's great
  13. Hi mate thank you for your advice would the silky Gomtaro do the job ? and if so the 300mm or 240 mmm ??
  14. Hi mate, thank's for your answer yes there is loads of "green growth" they form a hedge the "old boy" has kept on top of them himself and you can see where he has kept them at the level he wants as the bit he want's removing is a bit more "sparse" and a slightly different colour if that make's sense ??
  15. Hi Tom thank's for your prompt answer :thumbup1:I've ruled out a chainsaw as i've not had any formal training YET in regard's to using a chainsaw "at height" so from a safety perspective I think it's best to do this job by hand and put some of the cash earned toward's paying for my training and ticket's later on can you recommend which silky to buy bearing in mind "fund's" are low !!
  16. Hi I've just landed my first job it's to reduce some conifers down to fence level the trunk's are about 7inch in diameter I am thinking whether it would be best to use a bow saw or invest in a silky saw what would you guy's advise ?? thank's in advance
