  1. Thanks for that Shane.

Monkey, great info there - many thanks. AUS list Foam filled, Normal and Heavy Duty. F/F are £3 more each and H/D are £5 more each so I'm going for the heavy duty ones. Bottom poles are the same price as inters so I might as well but the top are more, especially the H/D ones.

    Regards,

    Steve.

  2. Thanks Mark and everyone for your input.

I've had the quote back and their price list, the heavy duty intermediate rods are £5+vat more than the standard so that's a no brainer.

Are top and bottom rods necessary or just use all inters? Attachments need to be specified for top or inter fitting, but the h/d top rod is another £15 dearer.

    Regards,

    Steve.

  3. Evening all,

Looking at getting a set of AUS poles, two questions please. (Tried a search but nothing specific came up.)

1, How many ordinary AUS 1.2m poles is the maximum for Silky cutting?

2, Are the foam filled or heavy duty rods worth the extra? Guessing they'll be more rigid so would work higher.

    Regards,

    Steve.

  4. Ok first couple Steve.

  5. I put the first 2 hours on the 26 demo machine in January so it had new teeth, it felt a bit light on the head and the short tracks weren't great over kerbs and garden edgings but other than that it was ok. Put it to work on some Laurel then some Robinia Pseudoacacia!

Looked at all manufacturers at the AA show and the Predator was looking good till I saw the Bandit, the only thing the 28X has going for it is the expanding tracks, but for me they're not worth £3K plus VAT and I've heard a few bad stories about warranties not being backed - disclaimer - hearsay only.

    Regards,

    Steve.

  6. Had the STX 26 on demo a while back and liked it (slew angles were a bit different), however I could post loads of photos squeezing the current machine through a standard 30" gateway where the Toro would be sat in the yard. The 26 is so much machine for the money but Toro will not listen to the UK market and build 30" or below whereas Bandit have brought out the ZT1844 and I've ordered one. The same 38hp Kohler engine as the STX 38 but 29" wide for exactly the same money as the Toro - it's a no brainer.

Granted access isn't always an issue but when so many of my jobs are tight domestic back gardens I had only one option.

    Regards,

    Steve.

  7. After putting the 3rd or 4th clutch in one of our 3.5ton ivecos we have been told that there are 2 variants. Unfortunately you can't just put a heavy duty clutch in the standard..? That explains our difference in experience..

Not sure about that, but I was told that they're dual mass flywheels. I was warned that when the clutch goes it usually takes the flywheel with it and on the 2.3l you can replace with a solid flywheel conversion but not the 3l as the extra torque is too much for the drivetrain, so has to be replaced with the very expensive DMF.

    Regards,

    Steve.
