I am looking to get some clear tarpaulin for the roof of my log store, which is basically a car port frame. Letting the sun beat down into it while keeping the rain off will hopefully improve the drying. For the sides I will get some of that breathable fabric that gets used on building sites. It's designed for high wind loads too. Will probably get some of the screen printed variety to save the neighbours looking at the blue tarpaulin that's currently there. It's not too pretty.

Will importing their firewood become more commonplace?

<p>I am looking for an artic load of firewood. I believe that is about 26tonne and should produce about 65m3 when split.</p>

<p>Say in 2m lengths, 175-200mm diameter. The truck needs to be able to drop the timber over my hedge with a hi-ab arm.</p>

Thanks again. I fixed the sensor to the underside of the flue, just where it becomes twin wall. here the temp on the probe doesn't get that high. so i might move it to the top so the switch point is a bit higher than 50C. Maybe use a longer screw also. I have to say I am not that impressed with the fixing supplied. For a few pence more it could have been secured by two screws and been a lot more solid.

Ok All wired up now. If I set the flue stat to 100C, the boiler races up to the 90's and the gauges on the laddomat don't move. If I then drop it to 50C, hearing the stat click on the way, The temp on the boiler drops and the laddomat gauges rise. So that all seems good. Question though. What happens when in slumber mode at 90C on the boiler? The thermostat could well have stopped the laddomat pump from running. Is there a danger of boil over on the boiler?

<p>So if I have the boiler set to 92C, it completes its burn and after a period switches the laddomat off. When that happens what does your display on the boiler read for the water temp? If that starts to climb to over 92C, will the pump be reactivated to stop boil over? Or do you set the flue fan switch so that the boiler reads a lower water temp value? If so what do you aim for?</p>

Hi, Thanks for your feedback. Do you know any wholesalers in the south lanarkshire area that I could buy wood from. I am thinking of storing the timber in pens made up of heras fencing. So I hope to be abl to feed logs into the processor at one end and have them dropped directly into the pens by conveyor. Cheers

Yes, it's for personal consumption. Up until now we have bought ready processed wood, which is delivered and tipped. We then stack. That was about 30m3. I have a chainsaw and 22ton splitter, which I used to process about another 30m3. Stacked that myself also. I know Jake with the processor. I am trying to shorten the supply chain and use some of the savings to pay for labour involved in stacking. So I am trying to buy direct from foresters. 100m3 is a bit much but I could certainly take 50m. Maybe a bit more if I organise another area.

Also, if there is anyone local with a Pallax type processor who would like to quote for splitting it and cutting it into 500mm long lengths. Then stacked. Thanks.

Hi Thinking about next years firewood, and taking a new approach to it. Ie having it delivered in 3m lengths as far up the production chain as I can and processing on site. I reckon I am after the following 350nr larch or softwood poles, 3m long 150mm to 250mm diameter. Anyone in interested in quoting for this delivered to south lanarkshire or tell me where you are and I will get a quote for collection and delivery to me. Best if you local to me. I won't be sending a truck to Dorset!

<p>Can I ask what wood you burn? We are having problems with building an ember layer these days. This year we are using larch. Last year hard woods.</p>

<p>We find that the larch burns off quickly as it embers with the stuff above not embering up quickly enough to add to it, so it never gets to build up to a nice 10cm depth.</p>

Thanks. I have now it one of those. The wiring diagram shows it is wired in conjunction with a switch. Do I need to buy this also? Can you shed some light as to how to wire it up to the laddomat? Thanks

We have a log gasification boiler and are trying to eliminate some unnecessary heat losses. The problem is as follows. Boiler runs and heats accumulator tanks to 90C. Boiler runs out of wood and heat demand in the house drops overnight. The pump between the boiler and the tanks keeps running, dumping the heat from the tanks back to the cooling boiler and hence the outside world, until the pump switches off. So we would like to fit a flue fan switch to cut the pump between the boiler and the tanks once the boiler has ran out of fuel or dropped into slumber mode. Are there any negatives to doing this and can someone please let me know the spec of what I need to do it and ideally a parts list, if you have done this yourself already. Thanks in advance
