Auckland would be one of the easiest places to find work as an arborist as its a large city and all the big companies such as treescape and asplundh are based there and always looking for climbers.Im based in the bay of plenty and work for a company in Tauranga called Arborcare who have the council contracts there and are also looking for climbers at the moment.
Plenty of work in Christchurch too but colder weather
Tree tech is one of the big companies in Christchurch
Hope that helps

Hey guys just wanting opinions of which kernmaster colour has the least bounce or stretch.
Im looking at buying 70m but would prefer a visible colour so looking at orange with yellow fleck or lime with orange fleck.
I have climbed on the orange/yellow and seems to have quite a bit of bounce especially compared to my cougar blue.
Cheers

Yes, but you either want an adjustable one like the Petzl, or make one to the length of the stride you take. I don't use them but I assume youd measure from your foot with knee up to base of hand ascender.
Are you just using your pantin Freddie?
I bought a petzl hand ascender and Im just using a bit of prussic for my foot loop and works ok.Much better for the longer ascents

I spent many hours on that exact chipper and only ever had it stuck once in a bog hole lucky digger was onsite to tow me out. Wouldn't think it would be too difficult to get it over the tracks if crossed straight on.

Did they not get around to finishing it? Looks like a thorough service!

I spoke to the parks, reserves and tourism manager this afternoon on the phone to raise my concerns and told him i was unhappy at what had been done to some of the trees he is in charge of and he told me he was happy with the pruning(Flush cuts) that was done to the young pin oaks:thumbdown:. The claret ash tree's were blocking the view of the security cameras and work was done by contractors(powerline hackers).
So my overall impression after the phone call was that they obviously dont know the damage they are doing to their trees and dont even care.

Been climbing on samson arbormaster 13mm but planning on ordering 30m of samson velocity 'hot' and 50m of donaghys cougar blue so will be interesting to see how i get on with the thinner ropes.
I had a bit of a play on velocity and seemed to be able to grip it fine and the light weight was a big plus and footlocking on is great so cant wait to have a proper climb when i get it.Any recommended prussic cord for velocity?thinking 8mm armorpruss
cheers

Boss had me up his folding ladder reducing some overgrown spindly pittosporums on sat, coudnt even reach a good point to reduce to when standing on almost the top run and felt unsafe and came down and told him i wasnt going back up, there are safer ways and better ladders(tripod) in which to do the job. He didnt seem too impressed as he went up the ladder and finished it off.
I watched the video this morning and was shocked !especially at the one where thee guy has the ladder leant against the part of the tree that he is felling and is obviously going to take him and the ladder for a ride then trys to blame his mate. Natural selection at its best!

Yea the hansas are a well made chipper(ive been in the factory twice) and used a 3'',9'',and 12'' diesel and impressed with all especially that little self feed 3'' which we just lift on back of the truck even tho its a towable version.
