  1. It's a shame you're so far away as i've got over 2500 nets of kiln dried kindling ready to go.
  2. The laburnum looks amazing, good job. Thanks for your help
  3. Slackbladder and woodworks, thanks for your help! Would these do the job or would you use something different? Liberon Pure Tung Finest Untreated Pure Oil Long Lasting Matt Finish 1 Litre | eBay or Osmo Top Oil 500ml 3058 Clear Matt - For Kitchen Worktops & Wooden Furniture | eBay Thanks again
  4. I was laboring for a friend of mine who is a tree surgeon, it was back in October 2012 and he had to take down a beautiful Oak tree (insurance reasons). I worked for the wood as I had some ideas and one of them was to make some Oak coasters. I am in need of some advice as to what type of oil/wax/varnish I should be using for them? I would like the finish to be as natural as possible, like these: Of course there are the issues such as the wood drying out and cracking, or if people spill coffee/wine etc it needs to be protected from such strong staining liquids. Here is one of the coasters, I have not sanded it down yet but just to give you an idea. Any help is greatly appreciated! Tom
  5. I would say splitting the log in half and testing the freshly split surface will reveal your true moisture content, that way it wont make a difference if you jam it in as far as you can or not.
