I'd certainly recommend the Truncator, if your cutting timber 6" diameter or less.
-
I have a Balfor petrol powered A9 Vario, which i would recommend.
Great for dealing with arbwaste, multi position means big rings can be broken up on the deck.
Had this for several years and not been many knotty chunks it hasn't gone through !!

Saw my first swallow yesterday:001_smile:

Sorry Hiluxr
Did not realise you were on here.
Anyway Homegrown if you still need to get rid of some timber its about 30 mins away in either:
Horsham turn off A24 onto A272 at Buckbarn traffic lights by Macdonalds, first cross roads it's on the right can't miss it blackboards outside offering Logs, Wood Chip, Rustic Fencing
Or
Under the roundabout A23 at Haywards Heath part of a garden centre "Logs R Us"
That's Heritage logs and other site mentioned is at Bolney

No need to worry there's plenty there. I'm trying to find a small 360 and seletograb to do some sorting as the forwarder crane isn't quick enough.
I'll bung the softwood through the heizohack but need to find an engineer familiar with the HATZ 4 cylinder engine as it sounds a bit rough and overheating though the latter may be just the screen getting clogged too quickly.
Woodchip is moving now but not much margin over loading costs.
That Sounds a better option than using the wheeled loader !

I have been cutting up fallen Conifer trees from the storms of 1987 in a wood near Gatwick for the past 2 yrs and ended up with a lot of logs! Are they worth anything as it would be a case of a Tele Handler and a Grain Trailer to extract them?
S.G.
I take it they are in short lengths, why not offer for sale to be collected from the wood, rather than the hassle of recouping cost of moving yourself.
As others have said great firewood, seasons quick, very little ash left, don't know why so many folk turn there nose up at it.

No takers for this on the other thread but if anyone's interested in a fresh load of mixed hardwood please contact us.
01293821321 ask for Steve D or Andrew

Hi Andrew, i'd be interested, but had a quiet winter and still got plenty of timber left and no more room for anymore at the moment.

Hire one with driver. Normally sub £30/ hr. Depends how much you value your time but digger should be 10 times faster and easier.
With a driver in my experience they will charge for the day even if job only takes a couple of hours

As you can see, there is a fuse loose here!
I'm assuming one of these missing fuses controls the cab lights in my Hilux single cab (1998), but as the fuse box cover (and fuse diagram) in the driveside footwell is missing I can only hope! :confused1
I need a favour
Could I ask one of you kind fellow hilux drivers, that have a similar setup please post a pic of their fuse diagram so i know waht fuses slot into them there holes.
Here's hoping!
Are you on hpoc, loads of info and helpful members
Mine's older unfortunately

If it was me i would go for Yew
Eleagnus makes a good hedge
what about Laurel or Photinia?
-
Only had mine since February, but would recomend Balfor's Vario, from Riko. Only a 9ton, around 100kg.
-
All good here. A few are still a bit sparse, but nothing to do with dieback.
Never known them to have been that late before.
-
PM sent.
-
As others have said, they were very late coming into leaf in this area too,and still not fully in leaf.
All seemed healthy up until autumn.

The only other truck is the new 15
Plate hilux is going to have a V8 engine in it out of the land cruiser which will pull 3.5t
Thats interesting, could never understand why they offer bigger engines in other parts of the world and not in the uk.
At 200k yours is just run in:001_smile:,what year and colour is it?

I would use old telegraph poles, used to be able to get them from a company at Rudgwick.
Try Beacon fencing, don't think they stock them but they might be able to source for you.
For chestnut, try cgw chestnut. Think they are in Midhurst area.
Failing that a reclaimed materials yard or landscape supplies company.
Let us know how you get on.

Thanks for the replies, keep them coming good or bad.
Appreciate the comparison with the Huskys, but having been a Stihl user for 30 years, i am unlikely to switch.
I am replacing my ageing 025, so also considering the ms251 and ms241.
-
Was considering getting an Ms261 c m, but the dealer advised against due to problems with earlier models. I did a search on here and read all the problems you guys have had with them.
I just wondered if the issues have been resolved with this latest version ?

Hello.. Anyone shed any light? My breaker spins over but has lost its bounce..
With the Kango version,9 times out of 10 the crown wheel and pinion goes on them, so my hire shop once told me.
Quite often see them on ebay described as motor runs but doesn't break concrete.

I'm fortunate enough at the moment to be in a position to invest. Obviously the first thing that comes to my head is to buy a house to let but am looking at the option of buying a small woodland say 5 acres or so. Is this something that would one day make me a return or am I just dreaming.
All opinions gratefully received and appreciated.
Thanks
Your return will depend what trees and age of the trees you have i guess, our 8 acres provides a small amount of firewood each year.
Shame i couldn't persuade my dad to buy the adjoining 35 acres when it was on the market around 1990 for between £1000 and £1500 an acre, woodland in this area is around £10,000 an acre now. So long term it will gain in value, like buying a house and letting it, probably with less hassles and maintainance:001_smile:

Got a picture of what you mean?
I have one for sale, your welcome to come and try it and see if it fits first, I am in Surrey and it fits my Hilux. I think my ad is still running in arbtrader.
Can't see your ad, pm your number and location. Haven't a pic at the moment, it's about 25mm out of alignment along the top edge.

Any one know if they will work with a tailgate that has a bent top edge on one side ?
-
Hondas are brilliant mowers, that does sound cheap at £200. They do suffer w ith gearbox problems though, if you try it and it makes a lot of clicking noises on engaging drive be cautious.
I have replaced mine with a Hayter, which is chain driven, less to go wrong i hope !

Been offered a small amount of Birch cordwood part seasoned that is lying in small stacks in the wood, on a self collect basis.
It is in diameters up to 6 inches.
Just wondered what a fair price would be per cubic metre or by the cord.

I do split some of the bigger stuff first, the splitter takes up to 20".
Much bigger diameter than that just pushes the plastic cups out of shape.
Sometimes it's just best to cut the bigger stuff on the ground !
