Wasn't only Allan that got done, other units on the site and a bike shop in the town.

I was one of the lads turned in for Allan this morning to find him looking at an empty unit. Big questions about security for all of us. Take care

My 550 XPG has apparently died. It is 3 years old and the main bearing failed last week. Apparently the is some scoring to the barrel. My local dealer is suggesting it would be more than £300 in parts. Add workshop time and VAT and I might as well replace with a new saw. (dealer has been good in the past. My 560 also threw a bearing but was rebuilt under warranty)
I am now the proud owner of a box of bits.
What options do I have?
Is their a sensible repair option other than the dealers?
Do i just use/sell the bits as spares.
Thanks David

Another climber, had dropped his rope. I was already in tree above him. Not telling who or where! :-)

Aldi for me. Cheap and cheerful but work fine. I am a light user mostly using silky and a small chainsaw on light stuff.

Can't recommend these enough. They are very hard wearing but comfortable. Come in different sizes and well worth sortingbthe best size. The rubber wears thin fairly quickly but the basic glove remains very usable. Recently with a lapse of concentration I ran a silky across my thumb. Slight damage to glove, almost none to my thumb. Without these I thinking would have been a very nasty injury.

I have seen glazing on the rope when using the Stien Rc 2000. Groundy was not wrapping it the right way, large wood falling was creating slack as expected and glazing the result

The Harkie is not bad. Keeps the worst out.. I find I get wet arms. Their trousers are different material. Works well enough but nowhere near as tough. High viz a bonus when contracting and never know where the next job will be. (but that's another story)

For Arboriculture and related work which courses and qualification/s are most appropriate for using a MEWP?
What do I need to be aware of?
Thanks in advance

Subjective response. In my world everyone that uses someone elses150 then buys one. It seems to cut faster but that may be the condition of the chain, who knows?

Give Lyon equipment a call, they may be able to fix it for you.

I've used both, prefer the 150.

As a member of the Arb Association do I need to organise tickets for the arb show or is it a simple case of turning up with my membership card?
Thanks

Sean, you mentioned Kayaking. I have worked in an outdoor centre that specialises in activities for people with disabilities. No doubt you will be able to use a kayak and/or canoe. Just what is possible is hard to say at this stage. Don't hesitate to contact me when your ready if you need some pointers/contacts.

Don't forget helmet colour. Groundies in particular need to be seen from above.

I think all tactics that reduce strain valid, including pantin, 150 and in my case zigzag. I find it less abusive on my elbow than a prussik based system. SRT doesn't help me in this regard but I'm not completely satisfied with my set up.

Thanks Dan, pretty much what I wanted to hear.

I'm thinking of getting a small stump grinder. The rock ones looking advertised around this site seem to be good value so I'm wondering what is good about them and what the limitations are?
I don't imagine that it will get use day in day out. As long as it pays for itself over the course of a year or two without hassle. (assuming I have the work) I have about ten stumps lined up at the moment.
Thoughts please ladies and gentlemen.

Kevin, your right it is a simple question. My other pullys are 'impact' versions or much smaller again. I was assuming a karabiner type connection just couldn't find confirmation in Isc documentation and website.
I can see advantages and disadvantags to using a bow shackle or mallion rapid instead of a Karabiner.
-
Thanks Jay. That's what I was thinking. Given the pully is rated for 70Kn and 16mm rope I can imagine people putting some big loads on these and the Karabiner being the weakest link. I personally want to use it for redirects and light stuff but do like to have compatibility of kit sorted.

What is the best way to connect the isc prussik pullys to a sling or strop for lowering?
Thanks
