Was just wondering where you guys tip chippings and what sort of price it is to tip a load? Also where is there to tip in/near Lincoln or Louth and how much?

firstly i would like to say thank you to tom2020 for the opportunity to try out some of his gear and teaching me the basics of climbing. now personally i feel i have learnt a lot but in the grand scheme of things im sure i have learnt very little of what there is to learn, i have also learned its no where near as easy as it looks in videos haha . I have also gained even higher respect for what you guys do day in day out and shall not be underestimating anything in the future. really looking forward to getting into the trade and learning all there is to learn, quickly realising its going to take many years though.

A fencing company I worked for a short time ago had their van broken into over night and they stole everything we had, chain saws, stihl petrol drills and all manner of hand fencing tools eg. Pullers, chains, battery equipment, generators. All was what we believed to be securely locked away In the back if a king cab iveco daily which we soon found to be seriously wrong!! Not only that, they also took 2 ifor Williams trailers no older than 3 month old each. All in all they stole over £10k worth of equipment overnight and ill add that this was all from a secure yard that only myself and 2 others actually knew how to acess (one being the boss of the company and the other being a faithful employee of several years). The point I'm trying to make is that nothing is safe no matter how much you think it is. I was only an employee (an close friend of the owner) and this destroyed me, I dread to think how the owner was feeling, it's just unthinkable!! You cannot trust anyone nowadays and as long as these crims are left to roam freely nothing will be safe. Just keep everything locked away as best you can and keep a close eye on things cause some people only need a second to destroy everything you have worked for. That is all I have to say on this subject

Personally I would say around £20 per hour for a skilled, self employed worker supplying saw, oil and fuel, if its a cash job then £15 per hour.

Considering a lot of extreme competition landrovers use the warn 8274 which if I'm not mistaken is only an 8000lb winch? Anything upwards of that should happily do the job and I believe the choice between wire/synthetic is purely personal, in my case it basically comes down to cost as synthetic Is rather a lot more than wire and does the same job. If you want some decent quality at a more affordable price try looking at the warrior winches, in particular the 9.5tds, there a good winch for the price and got a very reasonable waterproof build quality

I appreciate the advice guys, just had a look on their sight and they have no courses between now and may next year which is a long time to be waiting and as I've said, it's gonna cost me a good bit in travelling plus I'm gonna need the gear anyway other wise ill not be able to work so forking out now isn't all bad

Thanks for the advice mark but sadly there isn't that option where I live plus the course I'm booked onto is only 10 mins down the road, problem with finding one with equipment supplied is that I could end up spending a fortune on travel/acomaidation there for putting me in the same boat, only diferance being I have no equipment to show for the money I've spent and cheers for that offer Tom, will definitely be in touch about that

Lincolnshire, not far from lincoln

I have already been informed that I am to supply my own equipment, was just looking for advice on where to get it and what's best, have been told to give F R Jones a try so gonna call them in the morning and see what I can sort out

hey guys, i have my cs38 booked for just over a months time and was wondering where is the best place to be buying the required equipment for the course and also what makes/products to buy, i am in the uk if this makes any difference.any and all advice will be greatly appreciated

Basically just trying to get into tree surgery/arboculture, I already have cs30/31 and have plenty of experiance with a saw on the ground and am currentely looking into the best way to getting the other qualifications needed to become a qualified tree surgeon/arborist so any advice from anyone would be greatly appreciated and I'm sure I'll be picking all of your brains for information
