  1. There's a post here somewhere talking about cross compatibility of combi/Kombi units.

Can Anyone put me in to ge right direction.

So I'll explain what I mean in jest I talk of cross breeding. I'm Simply meaning Stihl possibly being able to run Hyundai equipment for example.

I was given a 240v Aldi pole hedge cutter.

The motor burnt out. Yes I could get parts. Or thrown it to land fill. Seams a waste. But perhaps the unit could be pared to a petrol power unit.

Does anyone know about compatability with other brands, I'm presuming it's Todo with shaft diameter [emoji2957] and Splines matching up.

Worx, Lidl Flora best, B&q powerpro

If budget/ noname brands attachments, (bought by those home owners or dIYist) could be used with commercial power units.

There may be a saving time made If there redily available or gifted by the customer as unwanted.

Yes they may not last as well but a free replacement for a season is a saving.

  2. We cleared two paths amounting to 700ft in Hampshire. we Had privately owned Stihl brush cutter with mulching blade fitted.strimmer head and back pack blower.

We wore high viz but didn't have signage.
Whilst working a hedge cutter got nicked.

Next time if we buy and use signs they will be locked to a tree. Supposedly I could only do this with the heavy type, not folding.

The mulching head worked well for thick brambles but strimmer made good finish of ivy grass and ferns.

Cuttings/orisons were blown into open parts of the trail to compost down.

Yup flail machine would be ideal.

Permission from the council and funding was granted.

  3. Agri-euro 15hp 10cm capacity
    I paid €1372
    Very good value.
Circumstances have meant we've had to use it as a back up chipper for almost 3 months.
    Served us well.

Wow just what I'm looking for .looks like it's self propelled.

Would it be a good as a Skarper?
I was looking at there C90 model.

Initially I would transport it in the van or small quad trailer around an estste. Ide chip into a trailer or directly into the customers garden.

I would use it occasionally for my own gardening business and some clearance ocassional work. Ide hope to be more efficient, get away from filling a trailer with brash branches ect having to flat cut it.

Then if the customer cant be persuaded [emoji2957][emoji2962]that it's a good mulch and they don't want it, it needs to be stored.

Then there's some of my regular customers with large bits of land and sections of field hedges with lop and top ide hope it would be good enough to do that say once twice a year .

Yes I know you can rent timberwolfs

  4. Can seeking advice from government bodies create more problems above the precivebale Assistance.

While we are trying to add to and manage are existing pond and wildlife area we are are considering talking to our local councils and environment agencies, plus also the New forest park.

Can involving too many bodies create problems with conflicting ideas and legality?

  5. The thought about using it for both Reservoir for irrigating and fish pond was that we'd section it off..again will need some though and research.

Either the pond or the Reservoir or both may not be a worthy investment so we want to talk around the pros and cons.

Largely money has a bit part of whether we go ahead. We should also be looking to the future for environment and also how we use the land, what the usage is and how and what services we could provide to the public.
These changes WILL we've been told by financial advisor, get the inheritance tax down.

  6.

We have 30 acres horse livery paddocks.

The last 4 years have been spent maintaining fences and getting them to a better state or repair, replacing some. Nothing has been done with the boggy field situation yet so..

We're looking to improving drainage with the knock on effect to be encouraging better grazing.

    We got a project on!

Before being able to dredge and clear our ditches we have to face up the Willow and to some extent fell large sections so we can have access to the ditch.

The ditches run across the forest and road into our property across are hedge/fence lines then off the property at the far side.

They haven't been touched for many years and that's probably one reason why we have multiple lakes on our fields in the wet season.

We also have an average 50-60ft pond that we may want to use as a Reservoir for irrigating fields in the sumer months. None of those two we have experience in doing.

This pond "could" be used as a fishing/spawning pond also although not sure how feasible that really is?

We would be digging it out much deeper and lapping? Back the sides, with a large excavator and someone who is experienced in ponds.

Just thought we could use the pond as source of income? And also try to use it for our dry season and put the water back on the fields.

    Anyone have an thoughts??

  7. I have a MS160T and more recently a MSA220. The 220 really is excellent, a lot more cutting ability than the 160T. I have felled a 9-10. inch Ash with it, you just have to feed it through patiently, rather than push it in like with the MS261 or bigger. Mainly bought the MSA220 for our early morning starts in residential areas, but we all love it and it is excellent for a quick cut into something too big for the chipper, saves using a petrol saw that isn't going to reach operating temperature on intermittent use.
Operating temperature, yup that doesn't Always get considered
  8. We use protos coms and they have been outstanding obviously people will complain that you look like a power ranger but the coms are second to none. We did have sena but fixing them in and maintaining them was a pain and obviously if you adapt or alter your helmet then the manufacturer won’t honour the warranty.
Yup exactly the point@allseasons it's a DIY mess of wires and a system not designed to the ware and tear it gets in our industry
  9.

Sena is in my opinion the go to for quick install of coms for upto 4 people to communicate whilst using ear defenders and PPE.

The Install and upkeep of the wiring and integration into the helmet is questionable.

I work within a team as a groundie and since are custom sena helmets are no functional Ive noticed a down on productivity.

I'm interested to think of alternative .

Think send do clip on purpose built bluetooth headset for a helmet.

I think also husqvarna tough talk could be paired with the sena SR10.

on a wearable webbing and a two way radio for 4 plus people and greater range.

Obvious large groups have expensive industrial coms mega bucks.

  10.

Is this the right area for this post?

I've neglected proper care over my hedge cutter the grease cap came out which meant the shaft was free to slide out it had slipped out and is now bent.

Could have a go at banging it flat or get a replacement, recommendations for a decent price not rip off!

I like these kombies, it been a good unit. Using pole saw and extension, the strimmer and small blower attachments.

for hedge cutting think I really need a fixed for purpose machine. Possibly going to try echo and not a fourmix? Want faster running.

  11. Ide want shoulder and waist straps on my harness, nice n adjustable, to allow to have the unit well balanced and weight evenly placed on your body therefore less back strain and more comfortable. Wouldnt pay anymore than £50.

Yes there cheap ones.(£15-£20).pay a bit more for comfort if ya brush cutting, it's likely to be few hours.

Freely suspended leg protection provides excellent freedom of movement. Extremely ergonomic and comfortable for forestry use with circular saw blades. Very light...

M biased and would select Stihl but other companies could offer similar products.

Alot depends on the machine and it's weight.

The whole process off brush cutting which you'll probably know is different than strimming can be back braking uncomfortable an inproductive, should not be done without proper harness and off course I would strongly recommend good PPE.

(Decent trousers gloves boots and helmet.)

These brush cutter heads are good.

Mulching brambles.. better than flat blades.
