  1. Thank you everyone who had taken time and voted. Unfortunately we didn't win, but it was worth a try
  2. I was the same I was really scared and had the fear of loosing my balance, until I did I swung right out, it wasn't scary at all more fun! After that because I had swung out I didn't have the fear anymore and I got more confedent and it got easier! Sit back into you're harness and just walk, strop yourself onto the limb If it helps you. But once you have fell off you realise it's nothing to worry about!
  3. Yeah it is and the cadets are so excited
  4. Thank you all so much! im a army cadet instructor in my spare time as well as a tree girl ha We are fundraising for two trips to South africa one this year and one next year. Each with 40 cadets and 7 adult instructors. We are going over to help the endangered wildlife, including a anti poaching course. Also going to stay in the Zulu village and meet and greet with the residents there. We are helping out with the children over there and the zingela community project. Also having a battlefield tour of the Rorkes drift and Isandlwana. However with each indiviual contributions of £500 there is still a lot to be raised. With you're vote hopefully we can grab £300 from Galaxy funds
  5. We need as much votes as possible! http://www.galaxyhotchocolate.com/galaxyfund2014/profiles/merseyside-army-cadet-force-exercise-mersey-warrior Thank you Amy
  6. Went to a job today and across the garden I see this( I hope it's attached don't know how to do it) She asked it to be pruned and that's what she got the fella had a ciggy in his mouth all the way through it. Why do people ask people to do things that don't have a clue.
  7. Hi all I'm a army cadet instructor, next year we are sending off some youngsters to south Africa for three weeks. We are trying to raise enough that the youngsters don't have to pay. While they are over there they will be carrying out a three day trek, working with the local army helping the rhinos and getting up and close to wildlife. They will also be helping local communities build school, helping them with there daily chorus etc. It is a life changing experience for anyone. The youngsters are so excited about it. I've seen how generous you all can be with the Christmas raffle. I'm trying to fundraise, I'm in the process of setting up a local auction so anything that you can spare, chainsaw carvings etc. or if you know any local shops by your areas that you think will give away some items that would be great! Thanks for you're time Amy
  8. I know it's sounds crazy but we women kept the forestry business going when all the lads went to war! Girls as young as 14! Womens forestry corps! We need more women in this industry. If a fella came into like a womens shop looking for a dress for his wife he wouldn't get belittled so why do men feel the need too
  9. Arborist Equipment & Supplies - Forestry & Tree Surgery Equipment this is the shop I use, they have a wide range of pants.
  10. I have the same problem. I've tried every pants on I'm slim and small. I found thT the xs strech airs fitted on the waist best but the length was too long. Husqurvna are massive! Oregan the length was too big. Best that fitted me were the stihl dynamic xs not the best pants but best fitting. However the dealer I got the xs from found it tough to get then for me as it's only s in the catalogues. Hope that helps
  11. Thanks gray git. Not all apprenticeships need there tickets paying for I did a 2year course where I had days in classroom, days in the woods climbing, logging etc then Afew days off. This is were I would then ring every company asking for work experience, not expecting pay at all. If it's paying for the tickets you are worried about try ringing up local college asking for one or two of there best students and see if they would be intrested. I found this benefited me A lot from college.
  12. I've got to admit some kids are difficult and they need to be taught ,know this myself as I'm a volunteer for the army cadets. The problem is each individual is different have different strengths and weakeness. Some may learn with harsh criticism while others may not. I think this needs to be considered before taking on apprenticeships. Work should be enjoyable, which I always say if you have a happy workforce you see better performance. I can take banter I mean I don't take anything offensive. But it took a number of customers to say to me ' you don't have get some stick don't you" I mean a customers from a days work notice it too. So i can agree that some kids are hard work, but some workers and bosses don't have the full respect for youngsters. They have the same attitude towards each and everyone of us.
  13. Thanks Bobh fingers crossed!
  14. Exactly what I'm doing! ANSI cant wait for that day to come:)
