  2. Our client is a small tree surgery business based in Cheshire. They carry out all aspects of tree surgery for domestic and commercial clients.

     

    Due to a growth in sales they are looking to recruit a groundsman to join their existing team . The position will involve all aspects of ground work from processing waste wood to ensuring a safe work site and assisting the climbers in their work.

  3. Our client is a Council in Surrey. They are looking to employ a Tree Inspector whilst a member of their full time team is on six month secondment . Based in Guildford the position will involve undertaking large scheduled surveys as well as ad-hoc tree inspections. This will involve VTA, data logging and specifying remedial works for the arboricultural contractor. A GPS tracked vehicle will be supplied.

  7. Work in sunny Jersey for one of the island's leading professional tree management companies and earn the industries' highest pay rates. Our client undertakes a range of commercial, domestic and local authority work. They also have a utility arb section.

     

    They are currently looking to employ experienced climbers for both the utility and the non-utility side of the business.

     

    Candidates must have NPTCs for aerial use of the saw, a driving licence and be fully competent climbers. Average weekly hours are 45. In addition to high rates of pay they offer subsidised accommodation.

     

    Position 1 Lead Arborist Required - To manage teams of Arborists.

    The applicant must have a minimum of three to five years hands on experience in all aspects of arboriculture and be appropriately qualified.

    The successful applicant will also be able to communicate and manage people and be experienced in all aspects of health and safety requirements.

  8. Our client is a company that employs three permanent staff and was established in 2005. They operate predominantly in their local area of south Buckinghamshire, but may also travel further into Berkshire and west Middlesex. Their client base is mainly domestic but they also have some commercial and private estate contracts. Much of this business is repeat clients and consequently they are booked 6 weeks in advance. They do all aspects of tree work and also some hedging.

     

    They are looking for a competent Climber in a team of three. Candidates must be able to undertake basic tree work operations so they can deputise for the Lead Climber who is the owner of the business and will have to take time out to price work and attend meetings. NPTC units up to aerial use of the chainsaw in a tree are a basic requirement as is a full driving licence. Additional qualifications such as E trailer licence and NPTC chipper/stump grinder/MEWP would justify a higher starting rate of pay.

     

    The position is full time and directly employed with an hourly rate of pay of up to £85 to £120 per day PAYE subject to experience and qualifications.   9. Established in 1996 our client is a broad based practice providing environmental services ranging from landscape design and master planning through to site appraisals, ecological surveys and arboricultural surveys and environmental impact assessment.

     

    From offices in Kent (Head Office), the practice is involved in projects across the country, from London and the South East to the Midlands and the North of England.

     

    As a result of an increasing requirement for arboricultural input and advice the client is looking to recruit a directly employed arboricultural consultant. Working on large multi-disciplinary projects as well as stand alone contracts you will develop this specialism within the practice. Much of the work will involve BS5837 surveys, although the company also undertakes a lot of ecological work which may require an arboricultural input.

     

    Candidates should be qualified to level 3 in arboriculture as a minimum and have previous technical experience within planning and development. Salary will be negotiable depending on qualifications and experience, but is expected to be in the range of £35,000 to £38,000 pa.     Grounds Operative Vacancy

    Working as part of a three man gang you will assist the climbers in undertaking tree work operations to all council owned trees. You will manage the work site at ground level ensuring it is safe and efficient. Candidates must be qualified to CS30 and CS31 as a minimum and ideally have CS38.   11. Our client is a north London Local Authority. The tree section is responsible for the management of a large stock of council owned trees. Each year they survey a percentage of the tree stock and produce a programme of cyclical pruning as required. Data will be recorded on a PDA and entered into tree management software.

     

    To undertake the scheduled Tree Survey and ad-hoc tree inspections they require up to three qualified arborists, ideally with own transport (mileage paid). Candidates will need to have a minimum (2 year) level three qualification in arboriculture and be available circa April through to September.

  12. Our client is a large Arboricultural Company with a depot based in West London. They have long term contracts with several London boroughs; all of which are served from this depot. As well as local authority contracts they undertake some commercial and domestic work. They are currently looking to employ more than 1 climber.

     

    Candidates should have NPTCs for aerial use of the saw NPTC CS39 minimum and a clean driving licence. NPTC CS 41 and an E trailer licence is preferable but not essential. Ideally they would like to employ candidates with industry experience; but they will also consider newly qualified climbers for more junior positions. The role will involve working as part of a two or three man team with the opportunity to take on a Team Leader role for more experienced, competent climbers with the right attitude. In all cases the work would involve a large amount of climbing and so would be a great opportunity for less experienced climbers to improve their speed, productivity and earning potential.

     

    Rate of pay is subject to experience and qualifications, but would range from £95-100 per day on a PAYE basis based on experience plus bonus (there is overtime and callout available)with a mid £30K target earnings).   20. Our client is the tree section of a local authority in the south west near Bristol. The Street Care section has an exciting opportunity for a suitably qualified and climber and groundsman. The role undertakes work within a specified front line team, delivering Arboricultural services.

     

    As part of this vital front line team you will be led by the senior arborist and required to undertake specialised tree work relating to the maintence and management of trees throughout the authority area. Both positions will share responsibility for climbing and grounds work on an equal basis giving regard to proper job rotation and strong team work.

     

    You will require some experience and will hold NPTC CS30, CS31 and CS38 qualifications you will be competent in supporting colleagues in off ground operations and will be qualified in aerial rescue CS39 and a driving license is also desirable. The job requires a flexible approach to working hours and requires overtime and some weekend working.

  21. Tree officer required for busy planning section of outer London Borough.

     

    Our client is a south London borough who are looking to engage a temporary Tree Officer for a three month contract initially but this may be extended.

     

    The role will involve processing TPO and Conservation area applications, making TPOs and assisting the Principal Tree Officer with more complicated issues. As this role will involve processing applications to work on protected trees and reviewing BS5837 surveys candidates would ideally need some prior experience of dealing with trees in relation to planning law and in addition hold a level three qualification in arboriculture and a driving licence.

  24. Our client is the UK’s largest independent provider of environmental consultancy, rural development services and policy advice. They are looking to employ a Level 3 or 4 qualified Arboriculturalist to undertake hazard based VTA assessments of trees for a DNO (utility network operator) in the Porthmadog region in Wales .The contract is expected to be for three months and involves a significant volume of work through out their contract area.

     

    The work will involve Resilience Surveying of overhead lines, identifying trees which represent a risk of failure and as such may cause damage to their infrastructure. Candidates would walk the lines and record their findings on hand held pcs with bespoke software and GPS. The project will be the responsibility of a Senior Consultant who will provide appropriate training and day to day management/supervision.

     

    Candidates will be required to have a level 3 or 4 qualification in arboriculture and have a good knowledge of VTA; prior experience of hazard based surveying is an advantage. To work on the contract candidates will also need to have NPTC units UA1 and UA5. Candidates will also need to undertake a one day training course which is specific to the network. A driving licence is essential.

  25. Our client is a large national engineering provider set up in 2003 as a joint venture by three large plcs to win motorway network and other highway contracts. They currently have awards worth hundreds of millions of pounds. The company is able to provide planning, design, construction, maintenance and operation of motorways and trunk roads. Part of the contracts involves the management of the green infra-structure associated with these networks and specifically the associated tree stock.

     

    As a consequence they are looking to employ an Arboricultural and Landscape Inspector to assist with this element of the service delivery in Kent and Sussex. This is a varied and interesting role that will involve working as part of a team of environmental professionals; with specific responsibility for:

     

    1. Undertaking tree inspections for trees on highways and adjoining land; making recommendations for remedial works as necessary,

    2. Undertaking landscape assessments; identifying where schemes are failing to meet the criteria,

    3. Attending site and other project meetings,

    4. Providing technical advice to other teams within the organisation,

    5. Dealing with Customer Care enquiries,

     

    The suitable candidate will hold a minimum Lave 3 qualification in arboriculture and ideally an additional horticultural or landscape qualification. Previous experience of tree surveying and landscape maintenance; ideally adjacent to or near highways is desirable. A full driving licence is essential.
