  2. Thanks David much appreciated.
  3. HI guys, im am hoping to do a dissertation project on Splanchnonema platani. i was wondering how to approach it. i am based in warwickshire, however my mother is based in london. I have a few ideas in the pipeline. 1. Determine wether Massaria is apparent in local areas, such as Warwick, Leamington, Stratford. Gathering data from a area, and working a management plan to suit. i Have seen some possible cases, but not been able to take a cross section. i am worried that the cases may be to few and far between. With known reported cases in london, there is defiantly a project there! but am more confused on how to create a original and worth while paper. i have read the obvious books and search google for the related documents, however if anyone has and good sources, they will be gratefully received, as well as any pointers and criticism thanks
  4. Will put some pics up later when I get back home from the 1st day Does any one no where I can get any stakes/bindings (hazel) from in/near Warwickshire ? Went well today but got let down the stakes. 90 meters to go!
  5. Sure does ! Lucky enough to have a JCB load all ! A speedy easy clean up , ! Did 33 meters today, lot of hard graft to make up the thinking time !
  6. Aww I like how you start it! I have a friend who has done a corse coming down. We will see how we get on! I'll put some pics on when it's finished, to see how I faired up !
  7. Thanks guys, nice advice! Being advised to thin the overhanging row is a massive weight off my mind! Thru the hedge there is a, good variation in size of stem, so I will get some practice With the bill hook! I've been in Arb for about 5 years now so I feel confident I'll soon get the feel for the hawthorn hinge! Am I right to put a new binder, every stake, at the bottom of the binders ( does that make sense) ? Cheers
  8. Thanks for tips, I live in the midlands so I think I am going for that style! The hedge is all hawthorn, and it's nearly 200 meters long! It has been staggered planted and untouched since. The the trees On the " second row" have grown out. Do I put the cut slightly aimed into the hedge or keep it going down the line? Thanks
  9. Hi, I'm starting my first hedge laying job tomorrow, the hedge is about 15 ft high, with the diameter at base around 10-15cm average, has any one got any tips? Would be appreciated! Thanks
  10. Used with brains, would be handy, just when people start relying on them, could be a few fences crushed ...
